vRS Buying Tips

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to Briskoda, so please be gentle... ;)

Can anyone point me in the direction of what I should be lookin for when buying a vRS? Is there a common time to be concerned about Turbo longevity? Any other bits and pieces?

Any help appreciated :)

What's the tyre of choice with the vRS? I'm used to Eagle F1's, so want proper rubber, but they don't do them in the stock size of 205/50/R17.

Am I going to see a 4x4 effect if I put 215/40/R17's on there?

cant really help u with that as i got an estate which came on 16's,as u prob konow the hatch is on 17's, , i assume to give more vertical tyre flex & better ride when carrying heavy loads in the estate, mines 205/55 r16 which is a common size amongst the estate range, usin dunlop sport 2000, seem to grip well though. 205/50 r17 for the hatch (fm brochure). I'll see what they put on the cops ones at the local garage, let u know. You had any luck finding the motor then :)

ps wouldnt put to wider tyre on myself, it may tramline and follow every rut under the sun (for very little in return).

Change to 225x45x17, no problem with tramlining etc and they are cheaper to replace than the stock ones, and lots more choice. If you do a search you will find loads of info on this.

Also if you join Freedom, there is a tyre/wheel calculator, that tells you if they will fit ok.

 will have a look at that myself,ta.
