Octy exhaust confusion.

Featured Replies

Ok, so I've confused myself with cat-backs, downpipes, sports-cats and axle pipes.. (Gone are the good-old-plain-and-simple days of fitting a 4" polished Heinz* baked bean tin to the back of an Escort..) and I'm after a little advice..

If I were to fit a cat-back system (front silencer, axle pipe & rear silencer) and then get a Hi-Flow Sports Cat and downpipe later on.. does that constitute a complete system or are some of the parts duplicated / missing?

Cheers in advance.

(* other brands of baked bean are available.)

That's pretty much it.

You may have to be careful that if you choose seperate suppliers they make the 'join' in the same place.

I had a Milltek dp/sports cat and a Jetex cat back.....both where 2.5'' in bore...to connect I got an exhaust sleeve that went over both of them.....I got it from Jetex and cost approx £10.

Generally speaking as the exhausts a designed for the Octavia all the different combinations should connect....with a little cutting or use of sleeves.

There should be no major connection problems.

I now have a Blueflame 3'' dp/cat connecting to the Jetex cat back....uses a reducer sleeve to enable connection.

edit: would constitute a turbo back....full..system.

sounds like a full system to me :)

These are the components of a modified exhaust system and the joins in between. Note the standard system is all one bit and needs to be cut if a section is replaced. Also when purchasing a standard system the over axle pipe is part of the rear silencer.

This is Octavia II but it should give you the idea -
