Usual great results.

Now for the usual comments with people trying to explain away the success...

' but it's only people who love their car that report in'

or the best one...

'but people weren't expecting much from their car and are pleasantly shocked every time it starts':)

Tell that to the Lexus and BMW people:thumbup:

Skoda Octavia (old)

Nice to know badge snobbery is alive and well in the Skoda community :rofl:

How is that badge snobbery?

lozgti: we have one of them people you talked about here;)

How is that badge snobbery?

Because there is an automatic assumption that it is better than other marques for the sole fact that they are not Skodas.

you have lost the plot a fair bit back only 4 posts in and the topic has changed...new record?

but how has that got anything to do with this thread?

anyway

octavia 4th and Fabia 5th nice one. proves skoda is better than people think and is up there with the likes of BMW and lexus

fabia and octavia in top 10 auto express chart of 2006

this is good. shame chris's car is no where to be seen....anyway who cares, if he likes his car we don't mind. But he mind's if we like our cars? o dear sad or what!

Just because you cannot keep up doesn't mean the topic has changed.

Was thinking the same thing tbh.

I have a tendancy to do that:rofl:

maybe cos I don't take it seriously enough:rofl:

plus sometimes the truth hurts

tbh Chris your hatred to BMW's cracks me up.

me or Scooby?

cos I don't hate BMW?

Judging by your previous post's I'd come under the impression you did.

not at all? I don't hate the cars at all....maybe just the drivers and the way they drive...maybe a bit of a generalisation but it's how my experience has been..i'm sure it's the minority...atleast I hope so.

But do you think that maybe it

But do you think that maybe it’s the way that you drive that has provoked them to drive in that manner?

I got tailgated by two Skoda’s on the M1 over the weekend' date=' no other make or model, just Skoda's – what is it with you, do you have something to prove in life because you drive a car that’s as cheap as chips to buy? Or is it because you've got a chip on your shoulder that you're never going to get to drive a decent car? ;):D[/quote']

I drive fine thanks and give no one else on the road any need to behave in a way that put's other lives at risk.

I generally don't have any involvment with any BMW I see driving like prats. I saw one today drive through a red light at a junction just cos nothing was coming???I didn't tell him to do that?

Like I said it's probably just a minority...... no need to get you hair knottted and knickers in a twist.

And my car is cheap as chips I'm not sure what your point is with that?

Iv'e drove many BMW's and I had nothing to write home about......

I guess you have a BMW I can see your arrogance shining through nicely.....maybe thats the problem. The drivers are arrogant?

I honestly don't know who told you I don't like BMW's??

Whoah! Slow down everyone:) .

I was pointing out that it is unfair to attempt criticise Skoda's position.Lexus and BMW,quite rightly, have done very well.As they should do.

How can the argument about the car exceeding its expectations be applied to these marques (and Honda)

If that argument was good,Fiat would be at the top,not the bottom.

Please note this thread is NOT about BMW's:rolleyes:

The funny thing is it's pretty hard to find a bad car in this day and age.The day the survey makes me happy is when Alfa's pull it together.Dealers and cars.So sadly I do attach some weight to what other people say about their cars and hopefully one day I can consider a Brera:)

I was pointing out that it is unfair to attempt criticise Skoda's position.

However...this is a "subjective" survey, so it's based on how people perceive their cars rather than how good their cars actually are. This means that the results are based on people's experiences and expectation.

For example, in my relatively short driving career, I've previously owned high-mileage Vauxhalls and Nissans...faultless in terms of reliability. I traded in my high-mileage old Astra for a low-mileage Octavia, as I needed a larger car that would be less likely to go wrong - coupled with the much-fabled "VW quality", this made the Octavia look like a good proposition. However, it's been the most unreliable car I've ever owned.

However, if I'd gone from a history of patchy cars I might overlook the unreliability and dwell more on the size/spec/price of the car, all of which are pretty damn good.

As such, these kind of surveys really don't prove much other than whether customers are happy or not...and so are probably more use to the respective manufacturers rather than individual buyers.

Chris you are obsessed by this badge snobbery thing, who gives a crap

Quite a few people on here, apparently...people saying they own a Skoda because "they don't care about the badge", but wouldn't own a BMW for the same reason.

Somewhat ironic...

But it is not the same reason at all is it?

Alot of people not just on here ut generally don't buy BMW as they don't want to be stereotyped as been a t0553r, the Skoda badge thing has not got anything to do with stereotypes it has got to do with the reputation of being a very bad car.

This is in no way the same reason.

Also high mileage cars can be more reliable then new ones as the things that have gone wrong with them have been fixed earlier in it's llife where as a new car the things are waiting to break. the next owner of your car may thinks it's the most reliable car ever as you fixed everything that was going to go wrong.

This thread was about the Skoda models being high up in this survey not BMW's or sterotyping.
