Bluetooth setting up PC Suite

Featured Replies

Anyone here familiar with connecting a Nokia to a Bluetooth key and to the Nokia PC Suite?

I used a friend Belkin one before and it was grand…now I got myself a IVT BlueSoleil Dongle. I can get the phone a 6230i to communicate with the Dongle software by using File Transfer …which enables me to see the files on the phone etc but I can’t get it to communicate with the Nokia PC suite.

Today to make sure I uninstalled the software for the Belkin & IVT dongles and the Nokia PC Suite and re-installed the IVT & PC Suite

If I go to the Nokia PC Suite Connection Wizard, select Bluetooth Connection, A list of supported Bluetooth Stacks comes up, If I Select Bluetooth (IVT BlueSoleil) and select next the following error comes up.

“Cannot use the Connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available.”

If I go to the Connection Manager and try and tick Bluetooth (IVT BlueSoleil) in the connections available the following error comes up,

“Cannot use the Connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available (Code: OpenMedia)”

To be honest I’m not sure that the phone is actually communicating with the Dongle (if I click on the properties its not sending/receiving data), I think I may need to turn something on but I’m not sure which feature on the Bluetooth software I need to use the phone with.

• AV Headphone

• Basic Imaging

• Bluetooth Synchronization

• Dial-Up Networking

• FAX

• File Transfer

• Headset

• Human Interface Device

• LAN Access

• Object Push

• Personal Area Network

• Printer

• Serial Port

Only the following ones are highlighted and seem available to use for my phone

• Serial Port

• Dial-Up Networking

• File Transfer

• Object Push

Any ideas ????

:)

Been there too mate with a Invermedia Dongle and a 6230i. Even when i got it partially working it still came up with errors. I even tried a friend's Bluemedia dongle too to no avail. Was able to browse and transfer files but the pc suite wouldn't connect. Best bet is to splash out £10-£15 on a Belkin bluetooth dongle like i did. I haven't looked back since.

Best bet is to splash out

To be honest I thought it might be the way I was doing it...but after a search on the net it looks like its a know problem. I have it a few months now as I never got round to really sorting it out, I wonder if they'll take it back :) Its a bit stupid..it'll work with the phone but not the phones PC software.

Thanks for help guys.

Ok, IVT drivers override the standard blue:D drivers, so its just a case of going into the dev manager and switching them. Do this by right clicking the "My Computer" icon, and select properties.

Then click the hardware tab, and click device manager.

Somewhere in this list is your blue:D device so click the "+" button to expand the field. Once the device has been found you need to right click it and again select properties. Then, clcik onto "Update driver" which will then bring up another window.

There will be 3 options asking if windows can connect to the internet to find the driver, click No, then Next.

Then click install from a specific location, and again Next.

Now click on "Dont search. I will choose the driver to install".

There should be a list of drivers, please take note of these and post them on here so I can confirm the correct one. However, if you see one that is Digitally Signed or says Microsoft then this is likely to be the correct one for you, choose this and continue with ok/next buttons.

Now, we have to turn off IVT Bluesolil as not only does it change the drivers but it stops PC suite from takin the blue:D devices control.

Click start, then run. Type "msconfig".

Click the Services tab and then click the button labeled "Hide all microsoft services".

Now locate anything that says IVT or Bluesolil (you may not have on in here so dont panic if you cant find it).

Now click the "Startup" tab. Again, find anything with IVT or Bluesolil and disable it. There may be more than one. Then click ok.

Either restart now or later, its up to you.

Sorry for any typos, its 3:30 am :P HTH,

Mike
