Skoda...Only For The Rich...And Not So

Featured Replies

If I was rich,I wouldn't have a Skoda,I admit it.I would have an RS4 and demand they take the chrome off the mirrors to make it more subtle:) .Wife would have the new Q7 (like it now I've seen one)

Cars are not a measure of wealth or social status anymore though save for in the eyes of the shallow.I would simply buy the above for my enjoyment, not to show others we were rich.Credit and 'I think I have lots of equity in my house'mentality has meant there are numerous 'prestige' cars around and numerous newish cars(how many old cars do you see on the road nowadays ?)

Did a thread on this,I agree with Clarkson.I think the rich drive Land Rovers (not Disco's,Defenders). Can't see them choosing a skoda though:(

As I'm getting older something very strange is happening to me. It all started when I discovered the vrs  I was going to go for a new Golf but decided that paying an extra six grand odd was ridiculous when the vrs was offering me everything I wanted in a car.

Now, things have progressed from there. I'm just seeing through everything that is forced upon us through our society and I feel I have experienced an awakening  I enjoy reading a magazine aimed at the female market and the last few months I have been flicking through it thinking this is complete bollacks.

I don't want to be a sheep and feel I have to have a Chloe bag at X number of pounds, to keep the self-obsessed designers that promote a distorted image through the catwalk of what women 'should' look like. It's crazy how people can get sucked into thinking that they are 'it' because of owning things that really have no relationship between what they cost to make and what they're being knocked out at.

I'm really beginning to have no time for people that I now regard as sheep. I love my sister to bits but boy is she a designer freak. Yes, she can afford it and each to their own but I just feel I'm seeing through it all now.

According to this test' date=' it seems Skoda is just as good as Audi

I can believe it. I laugh my head off when VW owners come up with the arguments that 'erm, well the VW/Audi is better made' than the Skoda. We've had Audi's and still have a VW. The only one out of the lot that has never gone wrong is the Skoda. The VW (Polo) is not as well made, and has needed way too much attention, it squeaks and rattles. The only difference between the Skoda and a VW/Audi I can find from my ownership experiences is that the latter two have nicer dashboards, whilst the former is better built in terms of reliability and solidity.

Only seriously stupid people spend more money they have to in order to get what they need, a fool and their money etc. So, if you can get the Fabia or Octy of your choice why spend more on a Golf/Passat/Audi? The Skoda is usually the better financial prposition anyway, having equivalent or better depreciation, which as a percentage means the Skud loses less as it cost less in the first place.

Couldnt agree more. My last car(Audi A4 1.8TQ avant 04mod) was to repair many many times and weeks, it was the most faulty car i ever have been owned, but it was great then it not was on repair. The only thing i miss in my vRS is 4WD compared to the A4

The way our company car scheme works (my team leader on
