revo remap

Featured Replies

I've heard a lot of bad reports about the above 'killing' cars and them running a little 'off'...? Is this so or are all remaps similar... I only ask because i have found somewhere local that offer the 5 hour freebie trial but believe they use the REVO map....

I've had revo on my car for about 3 years now and all is well, was originally on the 4bar program and i recently upgraded to stage 2 whilst at gti international so you'll be ok and most remaps on the market will be fine as long as you treat the turbo properly by warming the car up before driving quickly and then letting it idle for a couple of minutes before turning it off after hard driving

Where have you heard these reports? I no longer have Revo but have always considered them to be good remaps.

word of mouth mostly (have a couple of mates with cupra's and go with them to meets) and one well known tuner (don't want to mention any names) allthough they could have said that because they offered a different map. Don't get me wrong here btw, i'm just checking things out before i spend my wedge, i havn't labelled them as bad, just checking with you knowledgeable lot...:(

Any remap is likely to cause more problems than standard as you are running everything that much harder. You won't get any more problems with Revo than any other remap, imo. Of course, with the SPS3 unit you can dial silly settings in, something the Seat people seem to do more regularly than others. The engine should pull back to protect itself but it could be at the root of their problems.

You said that it killed cars, I'd say that's bad!

I have heard of one occasion where a turbo failed on a revo'd car. However the owner maxxed out the SPS3 settings on an otherwise standard car and was doing dragdtrip runs. Revo are pretty clear that changes of settings with the SPS3 are for cars with other mods and that logs need to done to ensure safe running.
