Has anyone had a problem with water from the tailgate running in to the rear speakers after it rains. My friend has this problem and has told the dealer where he got the car but the reply was along the lines of ...never heard that before.... He just loves his little baby and this is the only minor fault he can hold against it.

This is a well-known problem with Octavia 1 hatches, I don't know if they fixed it for Octavia 2.

There are a variety of solutions from the temporary (and "undo"able) to more permanent measures. A quick search should help you or, if you get stuck, shout and I'll see what I can dredge up.

Thanks for the info. IIRC his is a 53 plate, he has just had it MOT'd. He has tried silicon in the channel between screen and body and now just limits the opening with a bungee cord. I will pass this site to him at work tomorrow and no doubt he will join up also.

I did the silicone sealer in the gap trick and it works really well. I only get a few drops now instead of the half a bucket in the boot. If the sealer is at the same level as the glass and bodywork, it performs better. If there is a slight dip, it acts pretty much the same as without the silicone in. Hope this helps.

It's not as bad on the Octy II , but it happens all the time on the Octy I

Either do the bead of silicone thing or buy an estate
