Not driven it since the last set of 312's gave up. Not missing it at all, thought i would but have got used to driving my 23 year old Mk 1 Golf around, don't even notice the lack of power steering, central locking or electric windows which were always a problem when i drove the Golf on short drives.

Now the dilema, should i buy new brakes again or just sell the car, have the chance to buy some very tasty brakes in the near future but wondering whether to bother.

The Golf is quicker to 70 so thats all that matters in the real world, only downside is 35mpg against 43 for the Fabia.

What would you do.

Bigger brakes, Craig. You know what to do :D:D:D:D

BTW, thought the Golf was a birthday pressie for SWMBO?:rofl:

Your right on both counts, it was running rough so i got it to fix and it just hasn't got back to her yet.:D

Put the money you set aside for brakes towards fuel for the Golf

Chris

that's a tough one!!!!!

the mk1's are enormous fun to drive.

Golf quicker to 70? What's in it? :D

Keep em both and be in the elite club, ;)

Seriously though, i know from experience that a drive of any more than 30 miles of motorway in the golf can be tedious and frustrating, with the engine screaming at speeds just slightly above the NSL.

on the other hand i have a spare engine/gearbox and more cylinder heads than you can shake a stick at so your ok for bits ;)

Hard decision mate, but winter is coming and the golf has headlights like candles unless you put in the uprated loom and poor heaters.

on pure drivability the golf wins all the way, practicality the fabia gets my vote

Its whats not in it that counts, its slightly heavier than a jaycloth

I was thinking the same :rubchin:

Depends whether you and SWMBO both need cars? Otherwise if you sell the Fab she'll have nothing to drive, and you'll have to decide on what else to get :D

Jason bog standard, recent RR 111.5bhp ( should be 112 but at 23 years and 110k miles you could forgive it for loosing 0.5 bhp ). As big D said 780kg without my fat **** in it.

And with your fat ****?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Do you really want to use a classic during the winter, especially with your trip to work.

Keep both, fit BFO brakes to the Furby and use the GTI as a weekend toy.

Or sell both and get a real VRS!!!!!!!!

Neely P

Sell both and buy a new Octavia VRS Diesel.
