Mat locator lug removal?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have an idea how to remove the fixings in the carpet for the mats?

If you replace your mats with aftermarket ones that don't have the fixings then you obviously need to remove the originals.

I have had a quick look but don't want to do any damage by forcing them and the fixings just seem to spin in one direction and stick in the other.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try unwinding them. I think the standard ones come allready fixed to the carpet and you may struggle.

I did try unwinding them but counter clockwise they just spin but lock clockwise.

It's almost like a self taper with a safety feature added in but i wasn't sure if trying to lift the fixing up while still attached and then trying to rotate it.

I thought someone may have encountered this before.

i had these in my mazda, and have just fitted a couple to my MRS's new fiat last week.

they are like a big, coarse self tapper , so if you apply a little tension to them and unscrew, they should come out.

Cheers for that I don't want to break them thats all.

I know if I do it positively then they should come off but there is a fine line between the right force and too much!
