Mooing brakes fix

Featured Replies

Hi all, Am just wondering about the new "mooing breaks" when reversing, fix that i have read about (at last!) :D It appears that its some kind of counter weight to stop some sound frequencys when reversing.

I am wondering if this can be done as a DIY job (for someone who is fairly competant) i did ask my local stealer in Maidstone if they did the parts but was greated with a blank look and a "never heard of breaks making noise when reversing" answer.

If it can be done where can i get the parts?? how much will they be and do i need any special tools (excpet a special translation device to get my local dealer to understand something!:D )

;)

I posted the part numbers here

I had this fix done under warranty but the noise has now returned and the brakes squeal when braking in a forward direction. I spoke to Skoda who tell me they have several other reports of similar probs after the fix. If you are paying then I'd wait for further news.

Cheers

Brian

Yep, I too had the fix.(part number 1HO698998C ) It sorted the problem for a few days and then returned. Not only that, but the same happens as bf1 mentioned. When braking, they squeak just as you draw up to a halt. Quite annoying really as they make noise going forward and backwards now!

I look forward to another post on the fix for the problem.

Thanks for the reply's i would be paying for it myself so i will wait and see what happens and if they ever they get round to doing a proper fix:mad:

I have exactly the same problem. Had the brake mod done under warranty, they now squeal when braking going foward, and the dealer tells me that is a brake dust problem which is not covered by warranty!! Had the brakes cleaned, but no joy! and was charged £90 for the privilage
