On Saturday I will be ordering my new car-

A Hyundai Getz 1.4 CDX Auto

Now, I never thought I'd leave Skoda, but needs must. If anyone from Skoda is reading this they might be interested as why I am switching to Hyundai:D

The Getz is as well built as the Fabia, with the exception of the doors which are a bit thin. The Price is stunning on the Getz. Ill be getting Air Con, Front and Rear Electric Windows, Electric Sunroof/Mirrors, leather upholstry and parking sensors for

Kool man I hope you enjoy your new car.

Why an Auto?

lazy? ;)

Im sorry to hear that your leaving Skodas for a while now,

The hyundai Getz is a cheape car for what it has.. good choice, I wanted to get a Getz but then i changed my mind and got the Fabia, the Getz has a good range of engines too, only one thing i didnt like about it is the interior plastics, very cheape which is something that all korean cars share, but its reliable anyways..

as for the performance, i dont think that the 1.4 getz would perform any better than the Fabia 1.4 petrol,

can u post some figures about the performance of the Getz 1.4 CDX?

i hope you enjoy your new ride anyways and good luck with it

Have you tired the brand new (Like this month) Getz, as they have facelifted the interior and it is much better than the earlier models

By the Way this is a petrol

Hyundai Getz 1.4 Automatic (95BHP) (92 ft/lbs)

Top Speed 106MPH

0-62MPH 13.9S

Skoda Fabia 1.4 Automatic (75BHP) (93 ft/lbs)

Top Speed 103MPH

0-62MPH 17.3S:eek:

Ok, I just read a review about the 1.4 Getz, Im surprised to be honest, 95 BHP for such a lil car is good enough for city, and 0-100 is 11.9 which is as fast as a 1.4 16V fabia...

I havent been inside the new facelifted model but i heared that the quality improved, Ya i just noticed that its a petrol model, and the manual can do 0-100 in 11.2..

theres also a 1.6 version of it in my country which has got around 110 BHP, and you get ABS/EBD as standard...

It always seemed daft to me the Skoda would use the strangled 75bhp version of that engine instead of the much better 100bhp one.

With the autobox it really needs the extra go.

Yup and the manual 1.4 8V weighs the same as a 1.4 16V, the Auto 1.4 8V weighs even more which makes it even worse

They Don't do a 1.4 8v Auto unless it's a Dubai thing, They just use a Detuned version of the 100BHP, They cant use the 100BHP Because the torque is too high in the power band and the redline is lowered by 1k with the Autobox

Overall a total mistake

Lets hope the new Fabia sorts out it's act on the Auto Front

YES I AM LAZY:D :D

My brother sells them - they do seem pretty popular.

*Pops on sensible 45 year old with no sense of humour head*

I quite like them. Well equipped, roomy pleasant to look at and good deals to be had re servicing etc, mmmmm, worth considering.

* Removes said head, because it didn't fit on broad shoulders properly*

I had a Hyndai Getz as a hire car in Porto for a weekend. I hated it, my experience of it. Maybe all of them are not like this, but the car i had, when leaving the Porto's Europcar, was brand new, 17 km's it had.

By the time i gave it back, the pedal cover on the brake has snapped. The radio has stopped working, and the gear ****, came off in my hand.

:

I hope yours is delivered on time , the parents of a friend of mine should have picked up their new 56 plate Getz on Friday , no sign of car , still on transporter , no reflection on the quality of the car though

Well they say good things come to those who wait :)

Definatley the overall quality of the car is not quite as good as the Skoda Range but not far off, but then you pay for what you get:D

I am 18 going on 80 and the Prospect of an Automatic Hyundai is total excitement for me:O

Maybe I should go out more:P

I considered one of these for SWMBO (must be pre-facelift!) and the interior was a bit Korean. We'll have to check out the new one

Chris

SWMBO bought one new a while back (04) - pre-facelift but other than the plastics it has been a cracking car. Outperforms the equivalent Fabia, good economy, ABSOLUTELY NO FAULTS EVER (in 30k miles) and a good price and warranty.

If they did a quick diesel I'd abandon my vRS straight away.

There have got to be better choices around at

Why?

It does what he wants, in terms of spec, economy and performance. It is also at a price he likes and has the servicing and warranty well sown up.

If they made a car that did what I want with the 5 yr unlimited mileage warranty and 3 yrs servicing I'd have one like a shot - I do 50-60k miles per year :D

I'm guessing he isn't buying the car to do 50-60k miles a year, so is a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty that big a deal?

Enjoy the new motor!

I think the new Hyundai Sante Fe is a cracking looking car too.Doing well Hyundai

Yes, I think things have improved. I had a nice slow 1.1 Getz on holiday in spain last year. it was ok, just gutless on the hills and not very economical.

11K

We got SWMBO's (1.3) brand new with alloys, fog lamps, spoiler all in for 7K.

Goes a treat (83bhp) and very economical. The 1.1 is a slug though.

I hired a Hyundai Getz from Geneva airport at New Year for a ski trip to Tignes - a four hour drive each way, the last hour was in blizzard conditions with deep snow on the road. My normal drive is an Audi TT so I wasn't expecting much - but I must admit it's a fantastic wee car.

The performance was adequate, it was quite happy to cruise at 90mph on the autoroute, it was comfortable and everything worked perfectly. With the snow chains on I was blasting past everyone on the way up the mountain, even the 4x4s. And after sitting outside all week covered in 2 feet of snow in temperatures that reached -30 deg C it started first time.

So a big  from me !

Hope that you enjoy the car. We have a Fabia VRS and Hyundai Tucson TD and the one thing that can be said for the both of them is that they are cracking value for money. The 4x4 doesn't get massive miles, but it is reassuring to know that the warranty is there for such a length of time, and the residuals for most Hyundais are now on a par with the competition. More kit, less cost- no brainer I guess!:)

is a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty that big a deal?

It says a lot about how much confidence a company has in its products
