Paxton, thanks for those pics.

Demonstrates how different it is with the LED bulbs very well.

Thanks

Chris

yep

No one knows which ones are required on the Octy then? :(

octy mk1 led conversion list.

boot light 36mm festoon

welcome light 42mm festoon

map lights 501 sidelight bulbs

as for the number plate lights we have aproblem. the octy uses the 501 type bulb which when "converted" to the led type makes it very spotty. light comes out of the end of it. but the number plate light uses the light from out the side of the standard type bulb. so once converted to a led type it would not light up the number plate but the road behind the car. which we dont really want, so iam not going to change mine.

hope that helps you

I'd like to do the same on my Superb, but there are that many lights (4 footwell lights, 4 door lights, 2 vanity mirror lights, 2 map reading lights, 2 rear courtesy lights etc etc) it could get a bit expensive.

One for when I'm a bit more solvent I think.:o

i dont want to big it up or any thing but wasn't the vrs suppose to be the top of the range or is it just the sports version?

if its the top of the range then why dont i have that many lights? :(

i want more lights in the back and foot wells etc :(

The Octy and Superb are completely different animals, so would appeal to different markets. IIRC the L&K was the flagship of the Octavia 1 range.

Some of the extra lighting does add a nice touch. Is it best I don't mention the little LED's in the bottom of the door mirrors as 'puddle lights', or the Catvision?!:D

If I changed some of them for LED's, it would certainly brighten things up a bit. I'll start saving!

As for adding lights, I think Richard (Fabia 12v) added extra interior lights to his Fabia, so might be worth searching for his posts.

All the Best

Chris

@ Andyrew: Here's the downside to having a Superb, and wanting to convert to LED's.

I've just done a calculation, and to convert all the interior and ancillary (door, number plate lights etc) bulbs to white LED equivalents would cost £91.87 from Autobulbs Direct. :o

I've worked on their 501 4-LED bulbs to replace the W5W bulbs (13@£4.99), and 6-LED Festoons to replace the C5W bulbs (6@£4.99)

Maybe that is a bit ambitious, especially as it would cost another £75.97 to uprate all the bulbs up front.

Now aren't you glad you haven't got that many lights?

P.S If anyone wants a list of the bulb types etc for the Superb, let me know.

 jesus christ

iam glad i dont have that many lights then. thanks for that and i feel sorry for all of you out there with a superb that want to convert them all to LEDs.

but i must say they do look better with LEDs in.

now some one out there is going to do it. now who is going to be the first to go the whole hog??

thanks for that though

I must admit, the idea really does appeal. But it will have to wait until I have cash to burn.:o

SWMBO would take some persuading that I want to spend

  • 1 month later...

I bought some of these LED bulbs from warden_jp2002 on ebay and the first one went within 2 months, and now the replacement has gone too. Constant flickering...

Anyone else get this problem? Where else can I source the numberplate LED's for the Fab at a nice low cost?

Cheers

Same problem here ^

What about Autobulbs Direct?

I was thinking about doing this mod to my polo. I had "white" LED sidelight bulbs but they looked too blue so I took them out and put them in my maplights, look really nice! Was thinking of doing this when I seen a car with it done and was amazed how much cleaner it made the car look. You've just reminded me, must get some bulbs ordered.
