Rear light cluster connector / wiring

Featured Replies

Daft question time... :o

I'm in the process of fitting reverse parking sensors (Skoda branded) in my Octy hatch and all is looking pretty straightforward but have hit a frustrating hitch. I need to disconnect a couple of wires from the NS rea cluster to connect in the parking sensor wiring according to the instructions.

I dont *want* to have to snip these wires but they are proving a real bitch to remove from the connector, I think they are what are called 'bayonet' connectors. I've unclipped the connector to expose the wires but they dont budge!

Is there an easy way of doing this or a knack as i really dont want to have to start buying new connectors and what have you.

Cheers for any help! :)

I had the same problem. Have a look at the photo below which shows the 2 projecting 'ears' which hold the terminal in place in the connector block. Use 2 straightened paperclips and push these into the connector block each side of the terminal you need to release.

Or you can buy a propper terminal release tool.

Excellent, I'll try the paper clip method in the morning.

thanks

Edit: Would the likes of Halfords sell such a tool if I have 'issues'?

Those paper clips are looking a bargain !

Paper clip worked a treat, need to wait for a new plastic bumper insert now after it split when taking it off. Was looking a bit weathered anyway
