I'll be returning to the mainland in the first couple of weeks of October, after my little off shore foray didnt quite work out.

Which means I will be purchasing my own car again. I would like another Skoda, thing is I cant make my mind up as to what.

Plus there might other cars out there that I have not considered.

Advice gratefully received. I've put a poll up with my current thoughts.

Absolute upper limit is £20k, but I would like to spend less if possible.

Being young(almost) free and single I have no requirements for doors(no of) or luggage space, so feel free to enlighten me

I hear there might be a 350Z going cheap in the near future ;)

Yes I saw that, unfortunately its out of my range - nice car though.

With 20k to spend why only consider an Ex Demo RS? Some cracking deals on new ones if you look around.

Although the budget is

You've had a MkII vRS but only for a short time and not done any 'fettling' with it!.

Like Stu says, there are some absolute cracking deals out there to be had so go get yourself a Yellow one with all the toys for around £17k spend another grand or so and go have some fun :P :D;)

so go get yourself a Yellow one

You and that bloody yellow!!

Well I had the Mk1 which was Jabba'd and had full Milltek inc Cat plus 18" Kahn alloys - broke my heart selling that one.

I didnt have the Mk2 long enough to do anything, apart from the colour coding.

When I sold it I decided that I would not bother getting another, but I really can't think of anything else I would rather have. Must admit though, if I bought a new one I would miss the green calipers:rolleyes:

Don't know if I'd have a yellow one though..

I know a man that wants red ones if you are stuck with green. Not me I might add.

I voted for the Superb, Having just coverd a Few miles in one ;)

Just spend abit firming up the suspension, with alittle remap:thumbup:

Have you looked at the new SEAT Leon FR tdi or 2.0t. I saw one today in Black looked really nice! sporty but not too in your face.

Reason I sugest it is that you seem to like the skoda drive/ running gear and its the same engines etc with SEAT also I think the new Leon looks better than the Octy but thats my personal preference.

How about a 100 Edition or are they as rare as rocking horse **** now??

tbh I'm not that keen on the interior, apart from that I think they look really good.

There are only 2 on Skoda UK's website, a 130 Auto and a 2.5TDi Auto. But there are loads of 2.0TDi Elegance models - look like Skoda must have had big bonuses on that model - only trouble is they are all near identical spec - but should mean good deals about!!

So could be in as one of your options then???

Yes definately, I like larger cars, I like well specced cars. The opportunity to combine both with a possible good deal might be too much to miss. The 140 engine could be tweeked very easily, add some suspension to stop if handling like a barge(might be unfair - I've never driven one.) and it could be a winner.

Got to admit I love baker21's Superb. I keep looking at this one, then I try and convince myslef I don't want it:rolleyes:

Superb 2.0TDi Elegance

I think I'll either end up with a Superb or a high spec vRS TDi 170

I must admit i'm liking the look of the new Leon Cupra with the 240bhp 2.0 TFSI.

With a 20k budget I'd be awfully tempted at a MK1 Leon Cupra R as late as possible and pocket the change/not spend as much.

Remap and exhaust, a healthy 270 bhp.

Had not thought of that, they had the 225 engine from the TT/S3 didnt they ??

yeah they did and as Lummox said 270 bhp with remap! very nice car for not a huge amount of money!

Thats the second SEAT I've recomed to you I must have SEAT on the Brain!
