Which Re-map ? Octy vRS MK1 ???

Featured Replies

Had my octi vrs mapped at jabba about 1 1/2 years ago. Map works well, never had a problem however I did get a full blueflame exhaust fitted some time after and they wouldnt tweek it, only a full remap cost:mad:

Sounds about right seeing as they'd have to change pretty much everything to take the loss of back pressure into account.

I don't think thats fair at all. To charge a customer 'full price' for tweaking?

I didn't have to pay when I decatted......

What you have to remember that "tweaking" still requires time on the rolling road....and that's why it's the same price.

Itwould be better to have all your mods done and then remap at the end to take them into consideration.

Question rather than reply. FOZ1 or anyone else with a 4X4. Mines a combi. I'm seriously considering a Jabba remap but I want to know if I can get away with just doing this (+ new dump valve recommended) without shelling out a load of dosh on uprating brakes/suspension etc. Just want a bit more fun rather than track etc.

Any advice/opinions please,

Thorfinn

Not a problem as you will know the limits of your car. Dennis (DGW) runs a 4x4 & its only been mapped.

I would possibly consider buying a set of better front brake pads, personally I would recomend Ferrodo DS2500, a bit dusty but they work well. Also change the brake fluid for dot 5.1. Avoid EBC like the plague !!

having said all that the std set up is more than adequate for average driving

I found the handling of the stock 4x4 whilst a bit "tall" & leany to be very predictable so whilst it will not make for a track car it will still be a more than acomplished road car & you still have comfort !

Hi there, all I've had done is a remap, no noticeable issues with stock equipment so far,

and i definately have a lot more fun on the road now. :D :D :D Am thinking of replaceing the pads, but mainly because of the dust issue.(not sure what to get though, any help greatfully accepted:) .)

Would'nt mind taking it round a track, just to see what it was like?

Mines also a Combi, and it had the Jabba treatment (remap and variable boost control) approx 18k miles ago. That was after me putting 18" rims on with 225 rubber however, which makes a big difference in the handling. Wouldn't like to have my 240BHP running through 205 16's, as it understeered quite a lot with just 180BHP...

Cheers for that Guys. That is reassuring. I pre-empted getting a remap when I had to replace my front discs, I went for standard discs but fitted TAROX fast road pads. These are no more dusty than the original Skoda pads (whoever those are made by) but are very effective. Can't decide wheher or not to fit a Milltek before having the map done as there is nothing wrong with the system at the moment. I'm concious of the fact that fitting post map will affect the re-map to some extent.

I've had my map tweaked a few times. Rolling road or not, does not involve another
