My new car - Focus TDCI! ;)

Featured Replies

Well, the Corsa wasnt for me, and I bought a lemon. I sucessfully regected the car, and next week I collect my new Focus. ;) I finally have a car worthy of coming to meets in! I fell in love with it on the test drive, its a very strong engine, a very refined car and handling is far superior to anything FWD I have driven before, I was well impressed.

Its a 2003 Focus 1.8 (115) TDCI Ghia in blue. It has cream interior with grey wood inlays, climate control, 6 cd changer, on board computer, electric seat height adjustment, lumbar support, arm rest front and back, 17s, heated front screen etc. Seems to be a great spec and I love the colour.

Anyone know if the alloys are standard?

Any advice? Is the engine remappable to say 150bhp? Any common mods worth doing? Is the TDCI badge in the right place?

What is the service interval?

Ah well, look forward to many Focus related posts from me! After 5 weeks of miserableness in the Corsa, I'm happy again.

For peace of mind I bought RTI insurance - invoice price will be paid out in the event of a write of in the first 3 years, all for

the wheels are ford wheels but not ghia wheels, they are MP3 wheels :)

nice looking car and i know the focus is excellent as i had one and my brother has one.

prefer it to my skoda to drive but doesn't have the oomph.

Why the change anyhow (from the Fabia I mean, forgot the original reason)?

oh and the badge is in the right place :)

Sounds and looks a good buy, i love the focus. Learnt to drive in the MKI before the MKII came out.

Nearly bought a focus after the crash before i found the golf. (TBH wish i'd gone for the focus).

Just one thing... keep an eye on selecting reverse on it. Other than that, good buy

Am looking for a new car atm to replace my golf jst for the weekends while i can't borrow a car from work. Focus is high on the list.

for some decent info go to FFOC :: Ford Focus Owners Club but be prepared to get kicked off when you change cars.

Nice looking car mate

I nearly chose the 2.0TDCi Titanium over the Fabia but the Focus (in 2.0 Titanium trim) cost a lot more...

My big bro. had one and he said it was pants:thumbdwn:

After 30 years of Fords, he bought a Renault Laguna, which is slowly disintegrating.

he likes my car, but wouldn't buy a Skoda ' because his neighbours would laugh at him'

he is a pillock, and Tom is a fat old man in a 23 year olds body..

So what did the corsa do wrong?

Especially after all the detailing work you put in?

I thought you liked the corsa?

Did you lose much money on it selling it again after 5 weeks

Corsa problems included dodgy seat base - problem aknowledged, blatently refused to fix it. High pitched whining noise, really loud when cold, loud when warm, bloody irritiating - problem aknowledged, blatently refused to fix it. Wouldn't start 1/3 of the times, suspect dodgy immobiliser - no attempt to fix (dealer couldnt "fault"). Juddery wipers, not covered. Wheel fell off after 3 days due to lack of PDI/whatever. RAC bloke was gobsmacked.

Plus, struggling to get comfy. The demo had adjustable steering column, mine, despite being top spec didnt.

Vauxhall gave me £9000, so I lost £535, but thats not too bad as I'll have done 3500 miles over 6 weeks in it. And I did get a good deal on the Focus.

Ross - I handed the Skoda back as it was a company car, and I am several hundred a month better off owning my own car.

God, we all might joke about vauxhalll... but thats rediculous on a brand new car

Vauxhall gave me

i think you should be happy witht he focus, i think they are excellent cars. especially the handling of them. if you want different springs then get the eibach ones from a dealer as they are lovely, my brother has some on his focus :)

he didn't sell it, he rejected it ;)

They're the wheels of either a TDCi Sport or an MP3 and the TDCi badge looks like it's in the wrong place (should be higher). You can get a bluefin for a claimed 20hp/45Nm increase.

i thought that reverse was only tricky to find on the IB5 cars (1.4/1.6/1.8) - lack of synchro :o

Glad your better off Tom, several hundred better off though?? Car ownership shouldnt be that expensive..lol.

I told you one of my old workmates ended up having a new engine on his new SXI+ and that hadnt done 200 miles and was knocking its nuts off. That took them two months to agree it needed a new engine, meanwhile he was carless.

more than likely your right.. i jst new this as a common faults to focus' no idea which models though so thought i'd mention it, just incase.

Ford focus are a bit of a "Q car"

Handling from the car is pretty damn decent from a FWD hack-plenty feel and chuckability!

TDCI's are good lumps too-plenty of torque, pity about the name.....

Top Deck **** Installed:D

Thats a great buy; imo the TDCi is the best Focus in terms of real life driveability, economy and fun! They dont do too well on remapping though (if thats your thing)due to the injectors, pump and common rail setup being the limitation.

Strongly disagree with that comment; Im as welcome at meets and on the forum as I have ever been even though I have owned a skoda for the last year and a half. I know many others that are still on there with different cars - everything from Mondeos and Fiestas to Seat to Vauxhalls!

Good luck with the car

just going on experience mate, i got told to f**k off as i don't own a focus anymore, that was from mods aswell as other members :thumbdwn:
