Old Newbie buys Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi there - long time since 2004 when I had my last Fabia vRS. I've had a few cars since then, including a BMW 330d, but the Skoda is such great value I'm back to the vRS fold.

Collecting my 56 plate Fabia vRS in Silver on Tuesday 10th Oct from DM Keith in Wakefield. Had Black Magic last time which was cool, but hard to keep clean and scratch free. Hoping the silver one will keep its looks.

Anyone got any advice for things to watch out for when collecting a new one? Any early faults I should be looking out for (heard something about noisy rear brakes)?

Cheers

Dave (rsfab)

welcome back to the fold! there is the dreaded stutter that you may want to read about on here... but I'm gonna order two new ones in Dec, so I'm not that worried about it.....

Are you not too worried because it's not that serious, or because there seems to be a "fix" of sorts?

Wondering about getting written agreement from the dealer that if mine suffers the problem, they'll fix it or refund me. Only committed a deposit so far. Also worried the fix might impact on emmissions, and won't know until the first MOT!

Don't worry about it. I've driven two different 2006 Fabia vRS's. Both were perfectly fine... It's not on everycar. Just seems like the early batch of 2006.

Welcome back, enjoy your new VRS.

Mine is a April 06, and I've never had the dreaded stutter so wouldn't let it put you off. Seems there is a fix from looking through the Fabia model section though

If you see a Yellow Furbie vRS running around town on a VRS Plate...........It's Me................................Give us a wave and I'll wave back..:)

'mmm, mine has the dreaded stutter right from new. Dealer also forgot to put Euro GB plates on instead of the normal ones.

Not a great start, but apart from that the vRS has already put a smile on my face!

I really don't know why any dealer fits anything but EU standard plates nowadays - it is only a pain for anyone who ever intends to drive overseas. Daft!

I didn't ask for mine specially, but would have been upset not to have had them. My wife's car has ONE EU standard plate because it had to be replaced after a small accident ... eventually we might replace the other one, I suppose.

Good luck with the new motor, I'm sure you'll be sorted before long.

Thanks guys.

Went back to DM Keith's and got the plates changed this morning, no hastle. They changed the anti-hijack option to stop the annoyingly LOUD beep when locking/unlocking the car for no charge as well.

Still smiling :)

The demo car I drove had it, but it really wasn't that obtrusive. Only appeared on light throttle after the overrun.

Hello :)

Some people like that and get it set up to do it! I quite like it, but it is rather loud isn't it? lol

Yeah, I like having an audiable confirmation, but something more quiet. Option is either on or off though.
