Featured Replies

hey there people,

anyone in the sheffield area recommend a garage to use for getting my clutch changed?

I used one for me exhaust, but not too keen on them, they seem a little shifty.

any recommendations?

Cheers

Personally I would not go to JBS, 2 clutches later; 1st one failed after 4k and 2nd one is just beyond words, it's still not right and not going back.

But if you want a standard clutch for a reasonably standard car, then give them a whirl.

Caveat Emptor.

Colin I believe you have one of the Kevlar clutches which JBS no longer use. They fitted one of these to their demo Octy and it's still going strong I also believe Jason on here has one fitted to the mongrel and has also had no problems. However as I'm sure you're well aware several customers have had problems with these clutches particular those with 5spd gearboxes. JBS no longer deal with the company who supplied these clutches due to the number of problems and the bad publicity which this caused. When I required a clutch on my old 5spd setup I went for a G60 single mass flywheel and Helix clutch which was excellent and easily coped with the 280ftlb I was running at the time. I have since changed to a 6spd box to go with my big turbo setup and on JBS's recommendation went with a Spec stage 3+ clutch and single mass aluminium flywheel, again this works well other than the fly wheel being a bit noisy at idle but this is a trait of any single mass flywheel when used with the 6spd box.

I have no hesitation in recommending JBS and in my experience when problems have occured they have been put right at no additional charge to the customer. I don't know the details of Colin's particular situation and understand he has personal reasons for not wanting to go back to JBS and can fully appreciate that having had similar experiences myself with other companies.

Would also recommend JBS, having been to them for around 18months now, since finding out about them on here.

Like said by Eddy am sure Colin has his own reasons, but i have had nothing but spot on service.
