Vibration from 'on boost' onwards (PD130)

Featured Replies

UPDATE: I'm very pleased to say it seems sorted now (*touches wood*). With the addition of some padding and a few cable ties, there's no more vibration :)

For info, my mechanic did ring a Seat dealer (ING in Warrington) but they'd not head of a workround for this type of problem, nor a modified part...

Anyway, hooray :D

Steve , please tell us all what they applied the padding to ?

I'll try and find out specifically. The mechanic is a very good local VAG specialist I took her to, so he will certainly have applied trial and error in seeing what cured the vibration. Which is great with problems like this, and something I've rarely seen with dealers.

I know for certain there's some thin green padding as the boost pipe passes under the edge of the engine cover. But I'll attempt to get more info

More info. Chop chop!! lol :P

My last car was a 1.9tdi polo gt, shares the same engine as the vrs. i also experianced a similar vibration starting at 2k and trailing off at about 3.5k so i took it to my dealer in barnsley and left it with them for a few days.

They replaced a "turbo pipe" and nearside engine mount which cured the problem. when i questioned them about this they said they had loads of cars with the same problem and vw had re-designed a bracket on the pipe which cured the problem.... i dont know if this is true or my dealer just filling me with **** to get rid of me. anyway it did the trick and the car was vibration free.

Yep, same problem here too!

I've only had my car 2 weeks and thought it sounded a bit strange, i wonder why the dealership didn't pick this up?

Oh well, please let us know what the result is asap, i don't fancy leaving it at a garage yet, i'm enjoying the car too much.

Some members on Seatcupra.Net experienced a similar sounding problem which turned out to be the intercooler pipe rubbing against the fuel filter housing.

A piece of adhesive backed foam or similar cured the problem.

Sounds familiar Jon. Yep - I expect mine now has a piece of said padding between these two parts :D

Any chance of a photo?? I think my Octy 130 has had the same problem since it was 6 months old (now 3.5 yrs old!!! ) - dealer can't find the problem. Vibration comes in at 1800, especially when under a bit of load. Its driven me nuts. tails off towards 3k rpm.

Yep, sounds similar. As I've said further up the thread, I'll try and get some more info on the locations that padding has been applied. And some photos if possible.

Problem is getting the time, and I've not had chance yet to talk to my mechanic, and find out in depth what was done...
