Cleaning inside of windscreen

Featured Replies

made the fatal error of buying some cheap "demisting" pad from Makro the other day.... Had some kind of gunk embedded in the pad which just made the greasiness on the screen even worse. Any sure fire ways to totally clean the inside of the glass to a fine standard?

I just use a normal glass cleaner, currently working my way through a Simonize one.

NOT AutoGlym glass cleaner. It cant get dog nose prints from the back on our Octavia. Halfords own brand glass cleaners seem pretty good.

Brasso will also work well with non greasy marks - just dont get it on the trim.

Get back to Makro and pick up some Nilglass...should sort it out...

Rob.

Did mine the other day with some Homebase "value" glass cleaner

Chris

or some IPA on a rag.

Again make sure you leave the windows/sunroof open after doing it, don't smoke for a while (if you do) and don't get it on the trim :)

i allways use the tesco class cleaner. it's about

i used some of my brother's autoglym(?) polish type stuff and didn't think much of it tbh, it's still kinda smeary :(

i been banned from my local makro:rolleyes:

for why?

what the autoglym one that is like car polish or the spray.

The spray isn't up to much but the autoglym polish is pretty good IMHO.

Meg's NXT glass cleaner

What is everone using to apply and then clean off the glass cleaner. I've tried kitchen roll, dusters, polishing cloths etc with varying degrees of success. Any top tips?

it was the polish. i've used it in the past and it seemed to work, but this time i was left with loads of "swirl" marks(?) and a generally not very clean screen. maybe i didn't put enough effort into it this time round

Kim and Agie recommend using newspaper! :D

I use a Terry towel that's been given a good whack to get any loose dust and fluff off it.

I used one of these too (Costco special!) but I guess I hadn't quite got all the fluff out!

Chris

Microfibre cloth for me.

Bounty Glass and mirrors - works a treat and no fluff :)

I use Mer glass - works well enough for me and no smearing / haze. Clean with micro fibre from Tescos :D

SHould have clarified i use the Bounty things with IPA :P

How does India Pale Ale help? I'd have thought it would smear badly

:D

Yes I know it is Iso Prop alc ;)

Microfibre cloth are the best one's to use for window's...

You drink the Pale Ale, you go back indoors, you forget about the smeary windscreen :P

I meany Isopropyl alcohol incase anyone didn't realise.

Windowlene (sp) applied via cloth 1.

A clean cotton cloth 2 to wipe it off.

's easy...

Whatever window cleaner spray happens to be in the house, applied with kitchen paper. Failing that I've used newspaper with vinegar on it before now. That works a treat too

Steve

2 x Microfibre Cloths & Megs NXT Glass Cleaner.

One cloth dry and the other soaked in the spray. Wipe the screen/windows all over with the soaked cloth and dry/buff them with the dry cloth...:)
