Service indicator

Featured Replies

Is there a way of clearing the service indicator without visiting the dealer?

The car is due a service at 40K miles but the indicator has come on at 38K miles, i plan to have it serviced outside of the dealer network (using genuine parts of course) but the garage that will service the car do not have Vag-Com or the ability to clear the counter.

Any ideas?

Details of what to do can be found in the Owners Manual.

Thanks for the reply...

Just as a clue, does it involve something i can do myself or does it require a visit to the dealer?

If on fixed servicing, which I guess you are, then I think it something like hold the odometer button in while turning the ignition on.... But the owners manual should give you the answer you need. if your on variable, then you will need vag-com (or a friendly RAC/AA man!)

The former. Page 64 of the Owner's Manual:

* Switch off the ignition and press the reset nob of the trip counter below the speedometer and hold.

* Switch on the ignition and release the reset nob. The message "service" or "service now" appears in the display.

* Turn the nob for setting the clock to the right until the message is reset.

I recommend that you read the warnings on Page 65 of the Manual first.

PS: The spelling mistake is intentional.
