Stu......Hope you can help...I've been on your web site to try and find info on fitting the standard symphony radio in my furbie. I've had the radio replaced under warranty but I don't think the dealer has fitted it correctly. You can pull the radio out without using the " Keys" and the tray under the radio is loose and it rattles. I've been back and the say they need to order the fitting plate behind the radio [square plastic surround behind the radio held on by some screws ]. The problem is, so the dealer reckons, that the radio won't go back far enough to click into place so it's been forced in, hench damage to the fitting plate. surly one in one out. Is there a knack to fitting them, Radio first then tray, tray first or both together. Any Info would be welcome so I can go in armed to the teeth so to speak. Sorry it's a bit long winded, I'm not very good at explaining things................Thanks Andy

The radio certainly goes in after the storage tray.

The bit behind the radio is quite big IIRC and may be part of the lower dash.

I've got to go out but I'll see what other info I have for you.

Cheers...........Speak to you later.....[No rush cars in next week to get it sorted]..Andy

reading your post i would guess that either the wiring is in the way as the audio unit goes fully back or possibly the locating plug on the rear maybe the wrong size or something like that to fit in the hole behind the unit , i had mine out at the weekend to fit the Polo cup holder underneath and found it does take quite a push to get it in , and you can't really feel or hear it click in HTH

The radio and tray fit flush, they don't seem to "click "in...If you put your hand in the hole, the top is tapered at the back this I pressume is where the wires sit, sort of on the top of the radio at the back. I think it's the plastic square mounting plate behind the radio that's the problem, I think the new radio's been forced in, we'll see next week, cars off back in................Thanks for the reply. I think I was right, it is a fairly large part if they are going to replace the part the holds the radio in place. That is a fairly robust part and would be surprised if they've managed to wreck that. It is only about £15 though.

It does sound as though the wiring is stopping it go back, and from experiance I can say that it is pretty tight behind there. A useful if somewhat drastic way to sort the wiring out is to drop the glovebox down and as you put the radio in pull the cabling back from the left side - actually quite easy even if it doesn't sound it.

I've added a couple of pics which show the part I think you are talking about.

Thanks for that Stu..............That's the photo I was looKing for, belive me they have chewed up the plastis surround in the top corners...Arrowed. It must be replacable as it can be ordered........Cars in next week to be sorted when the part arrives I'll keep you informed of the out come......Thanks once again.............Andy

It is a cheap part like I said but it may take them an hour or so to fit it.
