Dunno...thought most cars had them down there? The thing about the automatic climate control is that (at least in theory), you can set it to the desired temperature and leave it...

Ken,

Hi and welcome to the site.

Heater controls do feel low, but after a few days you get a 2nd nature, or like me leave well alone and use heated seats :D.

Bad points...does not sound like an Audi A4 when you shut the door and turn the bose stereo on.

If your after somthing that will get you from A to B and be one hell of a hoot to drive? Then sure it has as many bad points as any car, but you don't pay extra for them, thus IMHO it's good "value" for money, unless you look to older "supercars", eg audi RS2, but look for fuel bills as the filling in your pillows and duvet.

As to the 330D, don't let on, but you'll out pace a standard one...Huck as previoulsy cited had a 330D, bloody lovely cars very refined, but easily out paced (That was two 4x4's with Jabba and APR (remap and chip)) However the caveat to that is a 320d will surprise you if they are on the torque wave and your asleep. But again thats true of all. Chipped it was a fairer fight, just.

The seat Leon is the VAG sport version and okay it comes with more power from the factory, but consider space etc...a possible negative is rear space, although not desperatly short it's not as big as a Citroen C5 or BW330D...but the rest is worth the sacrifice.

re economy, it's good for a petrol car, not diesel levels, but it's not terrible, even on track this weekend I managed 17mpg, almost managed to keep up with a mini-cooper-S that was not standard either, eventually.

Hope that helps.

Bad points.

1) The Grey Carpet. If buying a new car, hassle the dealer for a discount on a dark carpet ;)

2) Coil packs. Shouldnt be an issue on a new model now, but on the older cars it certainly is.

3) We have a growing number of reports of clutch pedals sinking to the floor on cold days. Its fine after you pull the pedal back up though. Master Cylinder is the problem IIRC, and fixable under warranty.

Other than that, not a lot else to be honest ;)

:iagree: put on Auto and 20 and leave.

On bad points: the main ones I have are:

1) silly light grey carpet gets covered in crud;

2) idiotic hatch design means that when you open it and its raining it pours water into the boot (and rear speakers) if you are not very careful.

and ...thats it :D

Stu I have a theory on this having just rediscovered this feature....

It's actually a positive thing.

What is does is force you to wipe the water off and thereby cleaning your hands before you touch the holy grail of driving satisfaction :D

Okay thats a bit extreme, but hey we can't all have an F50 can we?

the whitish grey carpet didnt go down well with the missus' date=' but then hey what does!![/quote']

One of our Illustrious members (Huck) recently changed his carpet for Dark Grey, paying in the region of

Ken,

/EDIT Geoff types faster than I do, so what he said...

Geoff is refering to the darker grey carpet Skoda make for this floorpan. If your dealer has a 4x4, have a look in there. Huck (again) replaced his carpet via a dealer for IIRC 200GBP or there abouts. It looks alot better and far more sensible.

You might be able to twist a dealer into doing this, or at least at a dam good rate.

Will see if I can get Huck to upload some pics.

Welcome!

Real bad point - especially with some tuning - very easy to get nicked by Le Plod! Fortunately I haven't as of yet, must have come very close this morning accelerating to 85mph+ on a 50 mph short stretch of dual carriageway only to fly pass a traffic patrol BMW plod wagon queuing in the deaccelaration lane on my right hand side. I was expecting blue lights and me to be pulled......
