Removing front passenger door trim

Featured Replies

Having received a helpful answer to an earlier posting regarding loss of power to the front nearside mirror, window and door lock, I'm searching to find instructions on these Forums as to how to remove the door trims.

Any advice or a link to the appropriate thread appreciated.

Thanks for the link Goochie but nothing on the site that specifically refers to door trims. Mind you, a useful reference for the future.

Hey Paul - there is some info on that page, you just need to follow this link:

MKIV Jetta Alientech Install

Remove the torx screws from around the the sides and below the door bin. Gently prise off the speaker cover at the mirror, and the electric window switch holder, remove the philips screw from behind this. Remove the cover on the the door pull, these can be very tight usually a gentlish lever at the very top will get it started and try to prise it where it will not show when it is re-fitted, remove the two philips screws behind this. Pull the trim upwards, it fits quite tightly into the seal that runs along the bottom of the door glass, finally reach up and disconnect the door pull cable by pulling the outer cable out of its socket and unhooking it from the handle. Re-assembly is the reverse, but before you start screwing the trim back up make sure that the cable hasn't popped out of the door pull.

When inside the door try not to damage the membrane too much as it could result in water leaks.

and remember to reattach the cables for the little red light at the bottom of the panel if you disconnect them (I forgot). But as my door leaks like a sieve I am going to take the trim off this w/e and see if I can fix it!

That's all very helpful Guys. Thanks.

I will report back once I have had a look. Will also take some pictures so there is a reference for others who may need to get inside the door.
