I always used powerbulbs in the past.

Had good results with Philips Vision Plus dipped beam, but having equally cheaper good vision using powerbulbs own branded dipped bulbs

My main beams are philips Rallye bulbs - 100w.

I also have blue vision sidelight bulbs, and silver vision indicators. No uprated bulbs at the back though.

I also always use Powerbulbs, usually get a free gift of blue vision sidelights, delivery is quick and if you are a member of ukpolos.net you also get 10% discount.

I use philips vision plus but the osram equivalent is reported as being just as good.

The blue vision bulbs are more for the visual appearance than lighting performance and I wouldn't recommend them for anything other than sidelights.

Long time user of Powerbulbs...as has been said..quick delivery and a pair of blue vision sidelight bulbs FOC!

I'm a big fan of Osram Silverstars, had the Philips Bluevision which were good but the Silverstars seem to pick up signs etc that bit earlier.

I'd second that comment re Osram Silverstars. The Philips Vision Plus do, IMO, give a broader spread of light across the carridgeway but the Osram give a tighter, more focused beam pattern.

Contemplating some Philips Rally 100 w bulbs for the main beam (H3) but just a bit sceptical about the extra heat they generate affecting the wiring, reflectors, headlamp lenses etc.

Ring also do some 100w bulbs that don't generate UV rays.

Wish they did Osram Silverstars in H3 size.

I'm also interested in some of these 100w Philips Rally bulbs althought they are not road legal (or does that just mean for the dipped beams?) Surely the full beam shouldn't matter as you switch it off when you see an oncoming vehicle???? Anyone confirm this?

I'm also slightly concerned about the power drain / heat output etc of these bulbs in the normal Fabia casings. How do you find them Jason? Any problems to report? And most importantly, how much better is the light output?!!

All info greatly appreciated,

Joe

bengie's had the rallye bulbs in his octavia for ages with no ill effects on either the wiring or lamp unit. been through the mot just fine also. same goes for my focus (i've had them a little bit longer than him :D)

bengie got his after seeing mine, they're well bright :D i've "recently" had a bulb go and replaced it with a standard spare - it's soo not the same :(

Another recommendation for Silverstars for dipped and Philips Rallye's for main. Covered about 50k miles across 2 cars with this combination and never had any problems :D Vast improvement in light for not much money ;)

Oh, and if you Google on powerbulbs and discount codes, there are plenty of ways of getting your 10%

Chris

I've used the Phillips Blue vision but recently switched to PIAA Extreme Plus (they are 'E' marked and fully legal, which 100w rally bulbs etc aren't) and they are the closest to Xenon (which I had on my previous car) I believe that you can get, although pricey; but then you get what you pay for.

On balance though, the Fabia's headlights are only average (regardless of bulbs). My other car is a FIAT Doblo and the lights on this (with the same bulbs) by comparison are fantastic!

On the other hand; you want a cheap way to see better in the dark - Eat loads of carrots !!!!

Yeah, 100w light bulbs are illegal, but in my opinion they light up the road one HECK of a lot better than standard main beam bulbs, which IMO is better safety. Just means you dazzle oncomers when they're still about half a mile away. :D

And my rear view mirror.

You completely blind any poor bugger in an old mini, and when you go past you will get the 6 bar of driving lights on in your mirror to see how you like being blinded.

Sorry, and call me an ****, but 100W bulbs are not legal for a reason, which is that they are bloody dangerous for other road users. They are very bad when you have the H4 style lamps so that dipped are stupidly bright.

Regular 55W main beam bulbs are just as dazzling imho. However, if you're considerate and don't use them when there are other road users about, then the wattage is irrelevant :D

 But they won't be turned on when I'm in the vicinity of other motorists though. They're only main beam bulbs, so I wouldn't turn them on in the face of, or when behind other cars. My dipped beam are 55w, which are on all the time.

I know they're illegal, but when driving down country lanes (of which where I live in Devon has too many of them) they really light up the road and surroundings well, and hazards can be spotted much earlier. :)

Been using these bulbs for well over 4 years I reckon, and wouldn't go back. In fact these bulbs are so old now, I think they're starting to wear out and I might need new ones. :o

My comment was mainly directed at H4 users as they are 85/100 IIRC.

Point is they are too bright, no worse than driving lights when only full main beam, but people uprate to dipped too and they are nasty.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha:P:rofl:

no. ;)

Just a quick note to recommend Powerbulbs! After reading this thread on Tuesday evening, I ordered some Philips Rally H3's for my full beam on my car as I think it is VERY poor as standard!

They were here in the post THIS MORNING in the post!! Excellent service really. Also got the 10% discount and the free sidelights! Brilliant!

Only trouble now is that it's too dark to put them in to test them!!! Will have to have a go tomorrow.

Joe

Have to say power bulbs own brand +50% are superb, as good if not better than branded bulbs of same rating. Personally I got them fitted and then had to the lamps adjusted by a test centre to the max possible without failing the mot. Now have lovely low beam which is great for teaching as it has a long low reach. I too use the rallye 100w mains and they rock! PROPERLY used they are not an issue and have a very long throw, making high speed night driving effortless and much less tiring.

You'll also find the headlights tend to be adjusted quite at a low level, rather than at the correct max level for MOT pass, guessing this happens to avoid MOT failures but it robs you of a fair bit of visibility :(

Ive found this in mine. The lights are ok but I dont think they reach far enough.

How much do you reckon it is to get them checked / adjusted?

Got some RING Rally High Power bulbs 100w for the main beam. Really, really impressed with how much brighter they are.

I understand they are a brand new product with low UV output so won't affect the headlight lens (hopefully). The packaging does ask you to check your wiring to see if it is up to the job.
