vagcom logs - low g/s?

Featured Replies

Got a vag com cable a while back and just got round to taking some logs.

First test of air flow seems to be a bit low to me.

Its a superchipped vrs. standard apart from the DV.

rpm air flow

2760 63.31

5840 144.36

6080 145.81

what does everyone think ?

It's low. I reckon that's about standard. A good rule of thumb on cars running a standard size MAF is BHP = peak MAF reading / 0.8 so in your case about 181bhp.

with it superchipped it should be nearer 200bhp. if it is superchipped as per the previous owner claimed.....

think its worth getting a new MAF ?

Have you logged the boost?

Also try running with the MAF unplugged, if it's faster then it's probably the MAF. You can try cleaning it before buying a new one though.

not yet. i think i tried logging block 115 but the shareware version on vagcom doesnt allow it.

okay i will try quickly running it without the MAF attached.

okay got a log of 115 with a full version

Not much more than standard boost. You're peaking around 0.9bar, standard is 0.8bar.

Humm makes sense. Looks like someone might have been telling porkies about the superchip. Oh well looks like a trip to revo is on the cards.

Can i ask how you did that loggin on VAG-COM.

If you startup the software - vag-com. Basis settings. -> engine - > log blocks i think ->

block 115 for boost. 001, 003 and 005 are also good. Click start logging and its saved into a csv file.

send me a pm if you need a hand.

It may well be superchipped but they don't exactly have the best rep when it comes to 1.8T tuning. I think they actually only quote power as being raised to 195bhp.

Hi,

When you calculate peak gs divided 0.8 is this whp or bhp?

Is the formula of peak gs divided by 0.8 applicable if:

- Testing was done with A/C on

- Ignition has been advanced by some piggy back or diode

Thanks,

-P.

BHP.

A/C on or off doesn't matter.

It's very approximate and won't take timing into account.

Okay!

My peak gs for one drag in second gear with A/C was around 90. That works out to roughly around 113 bhp. My car itself is rated @ 115bhp and I have Triphase, K&N, OWS, and Catback in addition to this. So was just wondering.....

As I say it's only approximate so I wouldn't worry. You may get a slightly higher peak value in a higher gear though. 2nd is over a bit too fast to be accurate as you won't get many readings.
