Pick up next week! DE-BADGE.

Featured Replies

Should be getting the FabVRS next week:D :D :D :D :D :D

Does anybody know which tools i need to de-badge the rear?

Also I want the VRS Badge in the centre of the boot ;) , whats best to use to stick it back on?

Please...

Someone here gave me this advice and it worked a treat, for the Fabia bit and the bit below it, gently get some fishing line behind it and gently use a sawing motion , when it is off just clean off the glue, hope this helps.

Cheers, I take it it worked for you...

If you remove the center "Skoda " badge off the middle of the hatch, you will leave 2 holes..........It's bolted on...........Just a reminder..:)

Yeah, thanks.

Hopefully the VRS badge will cover them, just not sure what to stick it back on with?

The badge wasnt bolted on,on my furbie

just two holes so the badge could be centerd

I debadged my car with a hairdryer to gently heat up the glue and an old credit card to prize the badges off.

Sticking back on

I used trimming tape and a blob of gasket seal

wear the skoda badge with pride :)

Good point about the hair dryer, I live in spain and did it on a 40 Degree + day made it easier when it is warm.

Where from, main dealer?

Yep just walk in and say i want one of those :D then they should be able to find the part no

Luke

Another way to do it is to pour hot water from a kettle over the badge.

and do it when it's all frosted up and splash it all over your window ;-) that was a joke by the way... just in case...

Anyone know the easiest way to remove the gunk left on the paintwork after?

Yep - as above, fishing line is by far the easiest, and I've tried all the other methods. The best chance of the lettering staying in one piece too, in case you want to re-apply. When I did the credit card style removal on another car, most of the letters snapped

For removal, anything with alcohol/petrol in it - I use WD40 usually and undertake just before I wash the car, then polish and wax. This helps get any shadowing away and brings the paint back up to the same standard as the rest of the car.

To remove the gunk, I've always found T-Cut to be extrememly good. Take as much of as possible with a cloth and then add T-Cut, Last time i'd done it, the badges and residue practically fell off.

:wrthless:

What would you like pics of exactly? :)

The removal process? The finished article?

Steve

I used a hairdryer to do the removing and the gunk just rubbed off with my thumb!

With the Ibiza one, I took the 'TDI' inscription off, below the Ibiza badge. Have kept the Seat script and Ibiza on because I thought the bootlid would look a bit bland without them, as the numberplate is recessed into the bumper.

And the debadged rear of my old vRS.

As I'm sure you'll agree, you'd never know they'd been there. And the badge on the Ibiza had been there for 4 years....

Pics of what?

I only wanted tips on how to take them off

Yes - random indeed! Well there's pictures now, so the thread can't be worthless! ;)

You've got the method now anyway, so you'll have no trouble

Why??

I understand people with M3's/M5's wanting to debadge so they can embarrass other "fast" cars when they mistake them for humble 318i/520i's etc, etc.

I kinda understand why someone might take the vRS badge off for similar reasons.

But.......why take the Skoda badge off and replace it with a badge that is a completely different shape, etc, etc?? I mean..........how many people are going to see it and go "Mmmmmm...that looks like a nice car.......it has no badges.....I wonder what on earth it could be"???
