Wireless ADSL Router advice wanted

Featured Replies

Just for info according to the ZyXel website all three of those routers include a 4 port ethernet switch.

Have a look around then decide what you intend to do with your internet connection.

If you will be playing media from the internet then I would get either the 661/662HW and if you are just doing the basic web browsing then a 660 or 661 would be fine.

That is a review of the 660HW:

Hope you get yourself sorted and let us know how it gets on :)

Obvious disclaimer, but I'm in no way recommending a product, just linking you to products from a range of products which I have used.

I have a BT home hub (BT broadband wireless thingy) sat here boxed, you can have it for free andy

Didn't use it then John? Is this router destined to travel around Briskodians? :D

Well our wonderous Netgear WGT624 router (that had a particular dislike for Briskoda oddly enough, and BBC weather) nearly went to router heaven. (I actually got to the point where my head was being used to remove my frustration with it).

Anyway, having thought I'd broken it, just got a Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router. After a couple of hours sorting two laptops and a desk PC and the printer, it's all set up with allthe relevant security measures, and discovered it's slight increase in range by walking to the other side of the green in Sciencebird's house (approx 30m)- still getting a full speed signal, and DOESN'T drop out every time you look at a site you want to.

So,

The only thing I would use a netgear router for is blocking a door open....

What you mean when they aledgedly have lovely backdoor service passwords that a user can't change in them.

If it's anything like mine, the use of it to hold opena door in your house is probably better. I would say the security is quite good, chances are if a hacker wanted to take over our connection, he'd have to un-crash it first!

Grrr! Computers! Why can't they just work!
