New stuff to be done

Featured Replies

:D Ha..

1) Rear bumper re-spray (had a small accident the other day :( )

2) Paint touch-up

3) Complete interior and exterior cleaning to be done...polish and shine by the guy who sold me my car and now has a new business specializing in auto-revamps, with Audi and Skoda as his recently acquired new clients.

4) Rear ARB (when Adrian decided to give me the green light from Jabba's side)

5) Red brake calipers :D

Can't wait...haven't done anything to her in about a year now.

Have fun

Oh That would be cool man, Sorry for ur accident though.. was it bad?

Ummm I think i need the polish though you try first and if it was good i'll go for it :P

Umm.. I think that it wouldnt make a difference if yopu paint the calipers red because it''s very hard to see them behind ur rims anyways.. but good luck man

4) Rear ARB

How long til he rolls it then?

It does transform the car fella, just remember that the laws of physics still apply! :)

it can be quite costly to get stuff sprayed, i've been meanting to whip my bumpers off and spray them again becuase mine are getting a bit rough, trouble is, i just know that if i take em off i'm bound to break something!

Nah it won't cost me much to get the rear bumper sprayed. It wasn't bad, it just left the mark off the other car (turquoise) and took off some of the paint but no actual dent as such. Still, it's a bummer :grumpy:

As for the caliper, I'm getting proper caliper paint from the dealer I got my filter from, and the guy who's gonna polish and clean my car up will do them up for me...he just bought himself a blue 2 litre Fabia and painted his calipers blue...looks pretty neat and the paint is nice and solid.

Tom...very funny :D Yasser, actually you'd be surprised how much of the calipers you can see through my wheels...so when they're done, they'll be standing out :)

So like, on a scale of 1:10 from you lot with ARBs and those with the experience, how much does the ARB improve handling? I'm trying to imagine it but I can't.

Its the single best handling mod you can do to the fabia. Virtually eliminates body roll, and also stiffens the back end up a treat. You'll find yourself going into corners much faster, deliberately backing off the throttle aggressively mid corner, letting the back end kick out, and then play with the throttle to keep the back end out. Hilarious good fun

Only catch is the tendency to roll ;)

If avoided it is a great handling mod :D

:D

Is this true? I would imagine so if the car is not low enough. And no, I know my limits, I won't be 'throwing' my car at full speed into any corners like that :D Promise.

But really....so it does improve handling, but how much does it increase the chances of rolling the whole car?

Mil, it will transform the handling. Can't see how it would induce a roll  I can imagine an increased tendency to spin though :D

Mind you, you'd have to be a f*ckwit to do it, IMHO.

What car hit you? Guess you must have been stopped at the time as I don't think they make F16s in turqouise (that IIRC is the only thing that can catch a moving 2.0 Fabia) :D

What I meant by roll is that because the suspension will then become so stiff, it would be able to lift a corner rear wheel while doing a twist at very high speed...at least, I imagine it being able to roll over if tolerance is surpassed

It was a late 90s Honda Accord. Damage is being repaired today, I got a brand new 1.4 16V Fabia as a courtesy car :) Silver too.

Oh thats good mate.. hows the fabia 1.4 16V to drive?:P

It seemed to be a lot easier to unsettle the car if you lift off (more oversteer). I don't know if that makes it easier to flip the car (and if you don't mind I don't really fancy finding out :o ) - Cornering is much improved, definitely :)

Ummm.. k can i say one thing about my car? I dont get life off oversteer.. why? :D i got a tow bar thats connected to the end of the chassis at both sides

I know I remember when you told me that...

Adrian, what's going on with the ARB??? I want! And Yasser, the one I'm driving is the 75bhp one I think, cause it certainly don't pull like the one you have...and it's automatic.

Mil, good to hear that your car wasn't badly damaged - you'll love the ARB - most noticeable mod - the car drives like a go-kart afterwards.

You'll notice that what were your limits before the ARB become easy driving. Newer limits, scare a few passengers!

Enjoy!

Oh, Automatic 1.4 means 75 BHP and 17 secs to 100 :o

would like to see your car soon after you get all your new mods done ;)

There isn't any give at the back of the car once the ARB is fitted. So it'll tilt if pushed.

Yes it will.

But as I pointed out, you'd have to be driving like f*ckwit for it to happen ;):D. I have only once rolled a car - that was due to driving too fast and hit a yump off line. Barrel rolled it, lost 2 wheels , lost all the glass etc etc - glad I was wearing a helmet and harnesses and had a full FIA cage.

Due to a lack of lean, the outside tyre will lose its grip and the first thing would be a spin, rather than a roll - there may be contact with something else which causes the roll, a stiff arb on its own ain't enough.
