whats the difference

Featured Replies

hello people

i have just been browsing custom-code website and i have noticed that remaping the ocatvia vrs only gives 10-15bhp more than the 1.8t 150ps.

as the vrs has 30ps more than the 150ps, what difference on the engine is it just mapping or does it have a different turbo like the leon cupra and cupra r?

im after a vrs but if theres not that much difference in mapped power should i get a 150ps and save the 1k on insurance?

any views would be helpful

thanks

it is just the mapping that different from an engine point of view

ok so insurance wants an extra £1414 just for a body kit and fancy seats.?

whats the diffrence between the 2 cars please

you could try reading a few previous threads?

the 180bhp version has variable valve timing and the 150bhp version doesn't

absolute rubbish

they are basically the same unit.

however some older 150hp cars have slightly diff turbos...

Are you looking at the non DBW 150hp output figures? There is no difference between what figures can be achieved by the the 180hp and 150hp variants, as long as its a like for like comparison e.g. DBW, VVT etc.

the 180bhp version has variable valve timing and the 150bhp version doesn't

then my engine must have been swapped at some point then de-tuned :P

the vRS gains:

bigger front brakes

vented rear brakes

lower stiffer suspension

better holding seats

half "leather" seats

17" alloys(on the hatch back)

not just saying this as i have one but have you considered the 4x4 1.8T?

its the elegance spec so gains the following over the vRS:

arm rest

ESP

sunroof

but gets the lesser brakes and suspension.

both the 1.8T's in the vRS and the elegance of the same age havthe same potential.

yes i have looked at the 4x4 but undicided it has a slower accel time on paper,

i do like the vrs but for what ya get different im not sure its worth the extra grand on insurance. i want a sleeper:):)

if i was to get a 1.8t with the 1k i save on insurance i could lower it and put better brakes on. and fit a vrs spoiler as the back end looks a bit empty with out one.

i keep browsing the form for tunning potential but im only finding bits of info

so this is were your help comes in handy once again:)

what is the tunning potential? whats on the market, i know theres fmic, remap, pannel filter, but i never had a vag car or a turbo one so i havent got a clue.

i would like 225+ bhp to start with, how achiveable is this?

sorry for the long post ppl

Relatively easy to attain 225.

if your gonna be happy with about 220bhp then get any old 1.8T and get it remapped as that *should* get about that figure, this will cost about £4-500
