Radio problems - ECU code needed?

Featured Replies

Hello I'm new! Please help a very unmechanical damsel in distress!

We recently got our ECU re-set as the altimeter thought we were at 2000m or something and the engine management light kept coming on.

Now thats ok but the radio isn't working and the garage said we need to put a code in which should be in our manual. We haven't got the radio manual - only the car manual and service schedule. What does this code even look like???

Its a W reg Skoda Octavia GLXi 2 litre if that helps

ITs a bit desperate as we are trying to sell and it doesn't look good (nothing against the Octavia - its been great but we've got too many kids now!)

Thanks for any help!!

Its normal to not have a code for your radio.

Leave the ignition on for a few minutes with the radio off then try the radio - the ECU should send the code to the radio (via the K-line ;)) then hey presto! It'll work.

Thanks Goochie

Will give it a go.

I just spoke to the skoda garage and they said you had to get the serial number of the radio (which they have to get for you cos they have to keys to 'bring it forward') and then they e-mail that with the chassis number to skoda and get a code.

Does that sound right?

Will try that if the k-line business does not work!

Thanks again

That will get the code so you can enter it manually, but the ecu should do it as posted above.

Unless the ECU "reset" process has erased the radio code data too...
