Buying an ex-rental car, any issues?

Featured Replies

How do I get my hands on one of these cars?

Do you need to know a friend of a friend?

Nod, Nod, Wink, Wink!;)

Are they up near you?

apparently they are going into auction next wednesday for anyone interested @ brotherton, near pontefract.

not sure of the price they will go for, but I can get this one at a "special" price (friend of family).

I guess all the local car sales dealers must know when this is about to happen and go and snap them up.

I bet they go for a lot more than you paid for yours.

Aren't we all "family and friends" here on Brisky? ;)

If it is a friend of the family he probably won't sell you a duffer and I think you would be nuts no to buy it.

As said you could probably just buy it then sell it on at a huge profit anyway.

Rather than waiting until they go to auction, you should be able to phone up the rental companies' remarketing departments and ask what they have available.

A lot of companies now prefer to dump surplus vehicles straight to the trade to avoid any risk of being sued by someone not happy with what they have bought & might not entertain selling to Joe Bloggs but still well worth a phone call.

Been in touch with my bank re a loan, trying to sort it now for the vehicle, the problem i have is that if I haven't got the money by wednesday next week then I can't have it.

My bank have approved it in principal and they will CHAPS transfer the money to me as soon as I have filled in the relevant paperwork.

Get filling and good look.

I'm sure chris will welcomw you to the blue side again.

Couple of tips If it gets tight look at shifting the money by Chaps direct from the bank to the seller, saves a day assuming you trust them. Or if its in your account to save drawing out the cash or cheques you can transfer the money by Switch to the Seller, just warn your bank what you are doing as they are bound to ring the seller & give them the third degree when the switch transaction is attempted by the seller.

Suggest you fill in the paperwork now & hand deliver it to the bank before close of business.
