Lost my oil filler cap - which replacement?

Featured Replies

After an increasingly smelly drive, pulled over to find no oil filler cap where one should be. Bodged a cover to get me home, but now needa replacement, however the one I used to have was a red metal push fit type as I recall (single point injection 1.3). But all the suppliers I've tried are offering me a plastic bayonet fitting cap. Was my red metal cap actual not the original (would explain why it fell off)? If not, anyone know where I can get this hard-to-find item?

Thanks.

Sam

Could always try the dealers? I dare say such an item wouldn't cost much money.

Welcome to Briskoda btw!

Never seen a metal one on a 1300 skoda engine... They were normally a plastic pushfit red on mpi or black on spi. As for them blowing out its well known that they do, normally when revved hard. Butts of bawtry sell them for a couple of quid.

Common trick on rally cars was to either put a chain on them so the cap wasnt lost when the popped or a strip of metal that allowed them to lift and vent but not lose the cap itself.

you will need the seal as well.

FIVER MAX ! Only can get it in black though !
