Can you beat confused.com's quotes by going direct?

Octavia insurance is due and Admiral are wanting

Definitely worth a try. While trying to find the best quote for SWMBO's car (she's a learner still), I got 'firm' quotes from each of the top 3 in the AutoTrader insurance search engine. Marks & Sparks were no.3 on the AutoTrader list, although the quote they gave when actually applying direct was so much cheaper than the other two, that she's ended up with a fully comp, zero voluntary excess policy + breakdown cover + legal cover for about 80 notes more than the cheapest TPFT quote on the search engine.

Might have been a fluke, though

Sainsbury's by far the best for me. Had a policy with admirl on the Fabia, and whilst cheap the policy was pants.

Some good discounts if you buy through quidco

Quidco - Finance - Life & Auto (23)

You maybe able to get it cheaper quoting direct.

Try accessing your confused quote on Morethan, you can then play around with some of the settings that confused sets as a default and get it lower.

yeh it's definatly possible

got quotes from confused

phoned 2nd best and told them the cheapest i'd got they requoted cheaper

then phoned cheapest on confused and told them they'd been beaten and then they requoted even cheaper.

might have been able to go on but i decided £170 saving was pushing my luck and gave them my bank details

Norwhich Union Direct have always worked out cheapest for me and didn't show up with a decent one on confused.com. When NUD sent me a renewal I did an online quote with them aswell just to see.

The online one came back cheaper so I rang them and told them this and they agreed it would be too much hassle to start again using the online quote, so price matched themselves keeping all the extras that I have

I tried a quote using confused.com. I got a long list of insurers who couldn't quote due to the modifications. :D I was limited to 6 mods, which made it rather difficult to select the most important ones. :o

Come renewal time I tried Confused before the renewal arrived, after weeding out the high excess's etc 'More Than were about the best, however confused still quoted more than 'More Thans' renewal notice despite being given the 'new' business discount!

I did exactly this ,got quotes from confused.com and called top three and got better quotes from all of them, confused's system is limited in the information you can input and two items on mine caused the quote to be higher (employer and previous no claims ).

eventually managed to insure a octy VRS for less than a mazda 2 1.6 with same drivers

try moneysupermarket.com

Personal I found that Adrian flux are really good.

what sort of value should i put on my 04 plate octy vrs?

iam currently with adrian flux but for them to beat my confussed.com quote they put my excess right up!

think i will have to shop around a bit more!!

the other trick i have done is to ring your insurance company and say that they have been beaten down to a reasonable figure and then 8 times out of 10 they will match it. saves millions of phone calls!! it worked last year!!

I did this when it was coming up to my renewal but actually phoned Adrian Flux to see if they could beat my renewal of around

i got mine a fair bit cheaper by going direct

I tried confused.com for the Volvo - my previous insurer Swintons came out at over £300 for TPFT - I called the local office and got fully comp for £277!!

Try Chris Knott

Half the quote of More than as a briski member

Also they are insuring my pet project - A G Reg BMW 316i for £175 - ok TPFT but still cheaper then most - mind I had to use Confused to get a low quote to take to them.

Does no harm shopping around. However I am a of the opinion that insurers no longer care for existing customers... So watch renewal time.
