Break lights failure

Featured Replies

My break lights have packed in (all 3), I have checked the fuse and its fine, as far as I can see in the Haynes manual there are no other switches or relays i need to check. I have checked the bulbs and they are all fine (didnt check the top windscreen one, they wont run in series anyway will they?)

It was in at the dealers getting the rad replaced during the week, Im convinced they must have done something.

The only thing I had done to the car was collapes the back seats to fit my pushbike in for cycling back from the dealers, this wont have put any pressure on a cable run or cut it will it?

Any ideas welcomed.

the brake light switch is on the bottom of the brake pedal. it might be unplugged on broken

unlikely to damage cable although the wiring for the rear lights runs down the passenger side I believe.

I would also say check the pedal switch - they do go just like that.

will do, Im assuming they are cheap to replace?

Checked it - now Im not too familiar with switches (or cars in general) so I assume I am looking at the white housing that sits at the top of the pedal that has black thing in it connected to two cables? The white housing has a button that is pressed down until the break pedal is touch then it releases it.

I wiggled the wires and found that one of them is a bit loose, it brought the lights back on though, I will no doubt kick it again and make it loose so I will get it off when I get home and either tighten the gap on the contacts or use some gaffa tape to make it more reliable.

Thanks for the help.
