Sod's law... Drove exactly the same way into work as I did on Tuesday, but nothing happened. So much for conspiracy theories...

i'm with the theory that the cruise is blatting the throttle wide open and tripping the boost/torque sensor... after reading the whole thread that would make more sense to me.

Obviously the make this absolutely deffinite you'd have to be able to test it over and over in exactly the same conditions, which you wont be able to as something as simple as a head wind could make a difference to the amount of throttle the car requires to gain speed.

I'd give Mike a call and see what he thinks.

By the time you work out what "could" be causing the problem he'll probably have it sorted.

It happened tonight again, and again when I had just resumed the cruise. Has been fine for over a week, including normal cruise usage. One thing I've also noticed is that when the cruise is resumed on a slope going up, it will boost, vent, boost, vent, boost, vent all the way till it finally hits 70mph again. As the boost comes on at 2700rpm (ish) and 70mph equals 2800rpm (ish) I almost kangeroo hop to the top...

I'll give Jabba a call, but as I'm not planning to visit them until the new year, I may just have to live with the occasional hard shoulder visit...

Just been out to clear the faults:

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction (P1200 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent)

17743 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs (P1335 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent)

01314 - Engine Control Module (013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent)

01304 - Radio (49-00 - No Communications)

Not sure about this 17608 error now

Found this

here

Through Google to Briskoda.

I had this several times on my old black one.

Can't remember what caused it though...... :(

Have you got an atmospheric dump valve fitted or is your original one failing?

"Boost Pressure Control" Valve , kind of implies that this is a cheap componenet i'd want to look at. Esp if you are running higher boost pressures.

It's got an aftermarket (no idea which one, Ade will be able to confirm) diverter valve (not atmospheric), but from the googling I've done it looks like the 17608 is a by product of the 17743 error. I've decided to keep my cruise control usage to the minimum as not to get it into limb mode too often, and then discuss things with Jabba in January.

I've also been told that oddly enough it could be MAF related. Can you log your MAF with VAG-COM Q?

I dunno Stu. I'm a complete novice with VAG-COM and the version I use is an old shareware version, so I'm not sure if it allows logging at all.

Hmm, that will need some digesting methinks... not suitable for Saturday nights ;)

Cheers Stu

Uses a Bailey DV30 which is the standard replacement diverter valve...if it wasn't upto the job I'm sure Jabba would have specified something else or had the springs upgraded.

On low boost it runs 0.7bar and high boost 1.2 bar....which is less then running the KO3S whith a remap....1.4 bar max IIRC.

The MAF is from an S3.

Thanks Ade

I'll update my .sig some more ;)

I regularly use CC on mine and haven't had a problem so it can definitely work on BT cars.

I was more wantering if a piece of something inside the DV had gone a bit iffy, these things do happen.

There's always that potential...Jabba will know how to check etc.

There's a spare dv in the boot.

What you dumping in the boot, hopefully not bodies as these would add to the weight and slow the car down :(

I'd like to think I know whether there be any death bodies in the boot

Almost forgotten about this until it happened again yesterday. Called Jabba to discuss and they hadn't heared of this one before. Am booked in for the 20th so they can diagnose the problem, and hopefully cure it.

See post three above :) Apart from the spelling I was quite close, wasn't I?

I hope you won't mind sharing any fix Jabba are able to give...

Q, Keep me posted, Ive put fitting of cruise on hold until you have resolved your little hick up

Spend a couple of hours upstairs at Jabba today (nice to meet you 341slapas, which car did you end up driving home again?) whilst Mike had a look at the map and the cruise control. They had not come across this before as they've not done an IHI on a car fitted with cruise. As it turns out they think they need to modify the map but can't due this to it being locked by the software manufacturer (not sure how this exactly works, but I assume the software manufacturer of the ecu flashing software shields some items off, or whatever). So they are going to discuss it with them and see if they can get some more information on it.

A revisit will be required, unless I fancy sending them the ecu so that Mike can tinker with it...

To be continued...

Good to know it can be sorted.
