Carjacked Mike would like to say HI

Featured Replies

Just want to HI to all.

As my name says i was carjacked for my last car (Honda CTR). I almost test drove an RS just before i got the CTR but the dealerships had none.

It's about 6 weeks now, Police have not found it and insurance about to cough up so i will require a replacement. I hear VERY good things about the RS, i also hear that its not too differcult to get +200 BHP out of one. After the CTR i am sort of used to 200 BHP.

At present i am trying to get price from the dealerships up here in the Northwest for an New RS, either in Black or Yellow.......any thoughts on price gents?

I see we have one or two Traffic lads on the team, Well boys its an Anti- jack kit for the RS and a GPS tracking type device........any other thoughts on what i can do to help to hang on to my RS?

My thanks to all

Cheers

Mike

Hello and welcome.

I'm very sorry to hear what happened to you , all I can say is that I hope that you escaped unscathed, and that the more subtle Skoda (compared with your CTR) shouldn't attract any more of the wrong attention. It's also easy to get the car to only unlock the driver's door by default, and to autolock the car once you get going (over approx 7mph). I suppose that there is anti-smash film you can apply to the side windows as well, but I suppose that if you're being threatened, the best thing to do is walk away unharmed and let the insurance sort you out.

I'm not going to comment on colour - there are plenty of views on the board - except to say that yellow isn't exactly low-key, and enquire as to whether you've asked your dealer if he could do a special-order car in dynamic blue? Very fetching.

You will get in the region of 230BHP out of the vRS engine with no work other than the chip change. Most people on this forum prefer JabbaSport. Do a search on Jabba or Jabbasport, to read more. You can also use any company who tunes the VAG 1.8T, such as AMD.

Good luck,

Welcome from me too, Mike. Si has given good advice, especially on colour -although you will have to pull a long of strings with SkodaAuto to get a vRS in the very fetching Dynamic Blue unique to my 4X4. :D

Welcome Mike

Sorry to hear about your previous motor, unfortunately even if the police do manage to catch these scrotes, then the courts will probably only give them a slap on the wrist

As for the future, i can heartily recommend an Octavia vRS, followed by a visit to Jabbasport, where it will leave with somewhere between 225 and 233 Bhp, depending on the weather, and a few other factors (type of fuel has a bit of an effect too) I got 233 on an otherwise standard car running on Optimax.

As for security, i would suggest you take a look at the Clifford range, and get one of their systems with "BlackJax" fitted. When activated, this requires a code to be entered for normal use of the car, otherwise the car cuts out & sounds the alarm system as soon as the vehicle is stationary. Combined with a tracking system this is probably about as much as you can do, barring a 24 hour armed guard :)

Thanks Guys

The CTR was taken to order, mixed feeling about the Yellow. Yes it hi lights it but it's also its easy to spot out on the road.

Hopfully GPS and a system that requies you to carry a small card to run the car will help. Theres been quite a few Car jacking here in Liverpool all of a sudden. You have heard about the guy who was killed at Liverpool Airport.

In the factory behind a chap was beaten and knifed for his MR2. I am just one of many. One of the CID told me that they only want to take from the estate so they can hide the car quickly in case its got a GPS Tracker system.

The last time they took from a distance the tracker came on and "Killed" the car in Ormskirk Miles from home. The helecopter was over head and they all got nicked.

I am stuck in Kirby for the moment, but i hope there is not the call for RS Skoda's.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike - I had my choice of car down to CTR or Octy vRS - was almost made up on the CTR, then I drove an Octy - made my mind up there and then!

Have you driven one yet?

Nope!

I asked the dealer in Liverpool to have one ready for Saterday morning...but they "Forgot" to bring it in that Morning. They than tried to "Rail road" me into a full speced silver one.

They didn't wish to drop off list and they became a little bullying or Presure selling.

Tough! I don't react well to that!

Spent Sat afternoon faxing the dealerships in the North West with my requirements (Rs in Yellow or Black) for Best Price.

So far

Alright Mike welcome to the site. Sorry to here about your CTR. I too am from Liverpool and the rise in Car Jackings round here is a tad on the scary side. Think an investment in some protection film might be on the cards for my fabia vrs (when i get it) A mate of mine has a Clifford Concept 500 (i think). It has a nice but be it a pain in the **** feature that when a door is opened you have a time limit to re-enter the code. If you fail to do this the engine shuts off (i think). He had it installed by SQ Plus in manchester.

As for your interest in a Octavia vRS, well if i could afford the insurance I would buy one. But as I'm only 21 and my post code starts will "L" I'll have to settle for a Fabia vRS.
