Hi Guys

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Like most "new" people I guess, I've read with interest many of the threads on the forums but taking the plunge and contributing has always seemed a huge step for a computer idiot like myself.

I bought a Octy vRS December 2002 having previously owned such high performance cars as Metro, Fiesta and Ka. The wife and I needed a bigger car so I thought why not get a quick car as well. Wow. I wasn't prepared for just how quick it is. Luckily I only get to drive it at weekends so I've still not become acustommed/bored to/with it.

Can anyone quickly answer a question for me?

Over the last couple of weeks, on especially cold days, when we start the car the temperature light in the centre of the dash comes back on after a couple seconds and beeps and stays on. I asked a local dealer and they said to bring the car in. I asked the dealer who I bought the car from and they said it was just a warning light to say the temperature was lower than 4 deg

Keep up the good work everyone

Hi and Welcome!

Glad you're enjoy your RS...it's a great cars...as are all of the Octys....bar may be the SDi. ;)

Hmmmm........temp warning light...never had this come on before....as for your delaer saying it's a warning you it's less than 4 deg......what's the temp gauge for on the MFA?

Take to another dealer to check it out...better safe than sorry.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Rob

Welcome to the site!

On your temperature problem, this is a known problem that has been raised several times on here before - I had the same problem and it only occurred when there had been sudden drops in temperature overnight. Others had also had the problem and it was diagnosed as being IIRC the expansion tank sensor (basically the temperature sensor). Take it into the main dealer and they should replace it under warranty - my dealer did it without any queries and the light hasn't come on since.

Thanks for your help, sorry It took so long to reply, I had to nip out for the day. I will indeed take the car to a dealer (needless to say not the dealer I bought the car from. Apart from a good deal, the service has been terrible.)

Is there a section on the site that rates dealers?

Welcome Rob, sorry to here of your troubles.
