Re-set Service Interval

I recently bought a supoerb which the dealer had recently serviced, my interval warning is now appearing how do I go about restting the computer.

if it is a specialist job what price range will I except too pay

Have you looked in the manual? It's normally in the manual for Fabia and Octy so Superb may be similar, it can be done via the dash button.

The proper way is to plug in with a VAS computer or VAG-COM. What schedule are you on? Resetting via the dash will put you onto fixed AFAIK.

Happened to me last week so - for once - I know something about this!

The procedure is listed on P17 of the manual and recommends a dealer does it.

It adds that the owner way does NOT apply to models with fixed service intervals -QG2 (look inside the front cover of your service manual to see if QG2 is listed).

If not, the procedure is:

Switch off ignition, press the reset button of the trip counter for distance driven and hold it down.

Switch the ignition on and release the reset button of the trip counter.

The text 'Service' or 'Service now' appears in the display

Turn the button for resetting the clock to the right - the display is reset.

Need to keep it serviced properly for warrenty purposes, but the dealers are not too hot on the service side of things, always seem to need to have several visits to get things sorted out correctly.

Yes it does. If you reset the dash insert via buttons it will reset it to fixed servicing. Also to maintain warranty the servicing needs to be carried out to Skoda specs and must be done by a VAT registered garage.

Go back to the dealer and ask them to reset the service light properly, what service schedule are you now on?

On variable service now, want to keep it that way too. Brother in law is a VAT reg garage so not a problem there, may just get it done at the dealer, has 63000 on it now so next time will need cam belt done for the first time as well, it is an 05 plate and the dealer tells me this needs the belt done at 80k.

Belt is 80k on an 05 that much is true.

The light will need to be reset with dealer equipment or VAG COM

Dealers are not allowed to reset a service light unless they have done the required service.

Will just get it done at the dealers, warrenty is more important than a cheap service, just hope it only involves one trip.

I was thinking that... I thought it expired at 3yrs/60k whichever is sooner?

Car was bought second hand from the dealer, who told me it would have a 1year warrenty from them regardless of milage, year will be up in january.

Unlimited mileage in the first two years and 60k on the third.

If the car is bought still under manufactuers waaranty I would be suprised if you gotg any extra unless you have paid for a third party extension on it.

The counter is set to record how many starts and engine revs iirc, if the trip says it needs a service it's not always because the oil is shot, if like me you turn on and off many times a day it comes up quicker than say someone who turns the key twice a day, personally I use a rule of thumb that 0/5-30/40 oil should do 15k and if you are using 10/40 no more than 10k, but 10/40 isn't recommended for the 130 TDi engine, so imo as long as you get some fresh oil in it before 15k expires it should be ok.

thats right. oil like an oil lol.

i was looking at the halfords booklet and it said 5/30 and that was the only one i found there.

after they told me in a garage the parts i got from halfords costing me

Don't know if this is a common problem with the Superb, but when I got mine serviced they reset the service light only for it to reappear, they had to do it a further two times to make it disappear.

Apparently this is common for the car not to take the reset and they said that they always turn the car on and off to make sure it has taken as it commonly (the service) light re appears.

Not sure if I was being told a load of gobble-de-**** or not, but maybe if you get someone to reset the service light, you double check it before you drive away.
