Tell me the best mods to do

Featured Replies

Ok .... picking up an 03 plate vRS estate on Saturday;

I've already got a newsouth performance boost qauge, and an alpine headunit, so what should I be looking at both styling, ice and performance wise.

(oh I also have a pucka ross-tech vagcom cable and software... so any VAGCOM tweeks would be helpful)

Cheers All

Well first of all what do you want and what is your budget, for example i could spec you up a £20k sound system that will set of car alarms and shake shop windows, sound quaility wouldnt be the best tho?

So give us a budget for differnt parts of your car, and what you want from each part!

I would suggest a good trawl of this site, there is a rake of Info in various sections

Good point.

Brakes - fronts to 320mm if applicable (needs new discs and caliper brackets), grooved and vented fronts, and fast road pads all round (presumes road car; if it's a track day special, go to rally spec pads). Should leave some money over for other areas.

No need to do this....just get some groove 312mm discs, DS2500 pads and change the fluid to 4.1...sorted.

Handled the circia 300bhp I had no problem.

Isn't that pretty much what I said, other than that I noted (if applicable), meaning that it only applied if the bigger discs were a significant increase in radius.

if you want a reliable 270+bhp then don't bother modifying your current engine, ditch it in exchange a cupra R/TT/S3 225 engine and get it remapped. way easier and cheaper in the long run for more power.

I really don't understand why people are upgrading the front arb.

If you do the rear arb and then the front I think you may well negate the benefits of the rear arb.

Get some KW V3s and do the rear arb.

Cheers guys

Seeing as Bengie mentioned a Leon Cupra R engine and gearbox, you could use the Brembo brakes from one of those too.

i have them on mine, very good they are too :)
