Octavia vRS Pricing / Hello

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Am considering going for a vRS. What d'ya reckon a fair price would be for a dealer supplied, 1 owner, Mar02, 15k mile, yellow, sunroof, multichanger equipped car would be.

I've got a test drive lined up for tomorrow and having already had a look round the car and I'm quite taken with it. I am however a wee bit concerned about the possible depreciation - What Car have it down as 40% of value after 3 years - by my reckoning, that means by Mar05 (a year or so into my ownership) it'll only be worth

Cars depreciate, they are a bad investment. Best thing to do is either accept that will happen or just buy the car and drive it 'till it either fails the MOT and is uneconomic to get to pass or it costs more to fix each month than buying a new car would be.

Cheers for the thoughts guys... I accept depreciation as a sad reality... but I do not accept the car halfing in value in 1 year. I s'pose what I'm asking is "Have What Car got it a bit wrong?" If the depreciation IS that bad, then I'm as well just buying a brand new car...

Basically I'm looking for some background info with a view to negotiating with the salesman.

I do not think What Car are very accurate with regards to used car values. I just bought an 11 month old (5K on the clock)vRS. The ticket price was almost

WD - a quick browse round the used cars section of the Skoda UK website will probably convince you that the VRS holds its value much better than What Car are predicting. I don't think this necessarily holds true for other Octavia models, mind.

However as others have said, car depreciation is a fact of life. It's at its steepest just after you buy a new car. A year or two year old car has had a good chunk of its depreciation knocked off already.

PS I would think you'd be lucky to get the car you mention for much less than 11.5k

If its on an 02 plate I recon

Go to http://www.skoda.r66.co.uk/ & do a search, its kind of re assuring although trade in will be somewhat less

That site's down atm Stuart - who is it?

Duncan - I think you can comfortably say that the What Car / Parkers figures are way out at the moment for the Octy RS. Look around on the web or in papers and you will be very lucky to find any RSs for under

Nick.

Its Skodas own site, just tried it again & it worked for me. It it wont work go to http://www.skoda.co.uk/ & work your way through from there. Enter site, then go along the coloured squares at the top'ish left until it gives you used car search
