Condensation?

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced condensation in their indicator lenses in their Octy mark 1?

I know that if it happens in a headlight then you can just put the lights on and the heat will sort it but obviously there isn't enough heat generated in the indicator.

It seems to be caused after washing rather than from rain and spray.

Mine does it too mate!

Mine does it a little but usually clears fairly quickly.

Ditto.

Mine doesn't that I've noticed, but if it's being "caused" by washing, it's almost certainly due to temperature/ rh differentials across the lens (inside to outside) and is nothing to worry about. After driving in rain, it would tend to make me suspect a sealing problem where the lens meets the reflector.

It is only one side thats affected and it doesn't dry out. I think I might dry it out in the house and use some Araldite around all the joining edges and see if that cures it.

I noticed this and the dealer said I needed new headlights fitted. I didn't.. Interesting a lot of other people have this ...

You only need new headlights if you get to the "fishtank" or MoT failure stage.

it's caused by ingress of moisture through an o-ring in the back from the lamp holder

This is the indicator lens, sounds like a dodgy seal has let water in, especially with all this rain we have had lately. Remove the indicator following the instructions in the manual for changing the bulb and make sure the seal is in place properly. It will take while to dry out as the heat is not produced to dry it out quickly.
