1.3 GLX Shudders at speed

Featured Replies

Hello all. My new acquired R Reg 1998 1.3 GLX has a shudder under accelleration from 55-75mph (not gone faster than 75 yet:)).

Big benefits so far are lower road tax, insurance and fuel economy.

Wheels are balanced, they also look to be inline and tracking straight. Once I ease off the throttle, all is smooth again.

I've changed the spark plugs, old ones were three prong NGK's, new ones are Bosch Supers 8+ which I know are model specific. The NGK's look like they were burning too hot. Oil change will be happening this coming weekend if the weather holds out.

Anyone else have this shuddering under accelleration?

mine shuddered at 70ish when i got it. i found that if you drive everywere at 100mph for about 3 months it smoothes out no end.

I reserve the 100+ speeds for my bike. The Skoda would get there, eventually, but with my family in the car, I am a conservative driver... The bike sates my need for speed no end. Nothing like 0-60 in 3 secs...
