Fabia Vrs Smokey

Featured Replies

hi everyone,

i have a 54reg vrs which has 20k on the clock, ive just re-mapped it and its really really smokey. i was expecting a little bit more smoke but my car produces a hell of alot.

how much smoke would you expect from a chipped vrs? it smokes under full throttle and when the throttle is released i get a black sutt cloud?

thanks john

Depends on the map really - how smokey is a lot? :D

Chris

First, find a quiet bit of road and give it some stick. That should shift the accumulated soot from the exhaust. Then check that your air filter is clean (vacuum the crud off it to make sure).

Then wash the back of the car and see how quickly it gets dirty again.

What sort of Chip/re-map have you got? I have heard they smoke more when done but I'm not sure how much more (I haven't had mine done).

I followed an Ibiza the other day and that was kicking out loads of smoke, pretty sure that must have been chipped!

I took advantage of the 5p off a litre of Tesco fuel last week, big mistake smokes like mad now, oh well back to Shell tomorrow.

Try good diesel and see if it makes a difference.

Oh yes, I can relate to smoky tesco fuel. After SWIMBO biddled around towm for 2 weeks I had some muppet in an 'A' class merc seriously tailgating me onto a motorway slip road, not sure which was funnier, the merc disapearing when I left it behind, or the fact the slip road totally disappeared in a cloud of soot :)

I have a little more smoke, its quite bad at 1500RPM, but later in rev range its fine.

I have just been to the Seat dealer and bought a PD160 trumpet & pipe to see if that helps:)

My vRS with a Custom Code 1 remap used to smoke a bit and that was on BP Ultimate or Shell with the occasional dash of Millers Diesel Power Plus, never supermarket fuel. 3 weeks ago I fitted the PD160 intake and it has made a big difference - hardly any smoke on full bore and none that I notice on easier driving. :)

Thats good to know. I will fit mine in the morning.

Got a pipercross panel filter coming too.

thanks to all.

Does anybody have the part number for the intake and trumpet?

I did the remapp myself with an ecu flasher and my laptop, but the file modification i left to the professionals www.tuningchip.co.uk. the map is a generic one and is quite nice. pulls well and sounds quiter for some reason but just smokes its T*Ts off.

ps anyone wanting a cheap remap in the yorkshire area pm me.

thanks john

Having followed Devonutopia to Nurburgring and back with my brother this August I can certify that he did vanish in a cloud of smoke on many occasions...

You know the expression 'smokes like a chimney'?

What they really mean is 'smokes like a furby vRS'

Just enjoy the surprised and 'is it broken' faces of the people behind you.

The odd thing is, mine may soot a lot, but it must come so fast out of the exhaust, it never latches on to the bootlid / bumper. Most odd....

Mine does in the wet more than the dry.

You really ought to wash your car more often Emily :P

who's that ugly guy with the sisters t-shirt on Emily?! lol.....

If anyone wants a used pd160 intake and green cotton filter I have one going from my mates cars. £20 + P&P for the pair.

You can't see my rear number plate at the moment :o

Need to give it a wipe.

It's pretty normal, especially with the generic remap you mention, which will probably just up the fuelling. In this case, the PD160 intake will make a pretty big difference I would have imagined, as you'll then be getting more air in, to make use of the extra diesel :) - chuck a Green panel filter in there too, for good measure

Apart from that, just make sure the turbo's spooled up before giving it full bore. Go up to 2k in 2nd or 3rd then progressively feed the power in until you're at W.O.T. (on a appropriate and straight bit of road!) and have a look out the back window, see if it's any better :D

  • 1 month later...

my fabia is re-mapped running around 185hp, and it doesn't smoke at all, not one bit.
