Which PC parts sites do you use?

Featured Replies

OK need some help, Im building a couple of new rigs for my wife and I. Im trying to select a mother board and find a seller with two in stock.

The board I have in mind is the MSI P965 Platinum. But ebuyer and dabs who Ive brought the rest of the parts from dont have them in stock. Cant find them at overclockers either, anyone know any other sites to try?

Or maybe alternatively you could suggest another motherboard in a similiar price range (£75ish +vat)

Basic system specs:-

Core2duo 6600

8800 GTX graphics card

2gb PC7200 Ram (OCZ)

2xWD160gb sata HDD.

Antec p180 Case

Antec neo 500 PSU

What im trying to do is cut down on noise whilst keeping things as stable and fast as possible (stability is more important to me than outright speed, so wont be doing huge amounts of overclocking, but a fanless motherboard would be ideal)

I originally had the MSI board in the order but between the time I started building the order and the time I sent the order they went out of stock :( so Im left with 2 whole computerx on their way to me except motherboards :(

A quick look round the web, an knowone seems to have that motherboard in stock and several are quoting a very long lead time. I guess its release has been delayed.

Komplett and Aria have been alright when I've used them in the past.

Ebuyer are my normal supplier of choice though

I avoid MicroDirect,

Ebuyer are fine.

Thanks for the links guys.

Well I was expecting a 3 day delivery time but the cases have arrived today already, now I really need to get my motherboards next day and get them in place.

These P180 cases really are fantastic quality, very different to any other pc case Ive dealt with.

You courageous man recommending overclockers :D :P I've never dealt with them and so of course haven't had any problems, but I do hear very frequent CS horror stories on all the IT forums :)

I just ordered some parts from "scan", but I have never used them before tho.

Parts should arrive tmr morning. They are E6400, DS3 motherboard, 7600gt, 1Gb ram.

Can't wait..........should made a good upgrade from S478 P4 2GHz. :)

Overclockers have never been anything other then superb when I have dealt with them. You can only order whats in stock and if ordered before 4 it has always come next day. Very reliable and I once had some faulty memory which was dealt with swiftly. Got a full refund even though the price had halved on their website.

scan took money before anything was in stock so they went out the window and ebuyer hide items that they havent had deals with the suppliers until you find the small button saying "show all products." They are reliable though, I just dont agree with their website setup.

Overclockers all the time for me good quality service pirce

Anybody got an old mobo with processor and memory they're looking to dispose of for sensible money (anything over 1GHz would do)? I see mentions above of people upgrading FROM 2GHz so I figure there must be some unused hardware knocking around that would be a substantial upgrade from my 350MHz K6 ....

Sorry for the hijack ugluk. Probably best by PM to avoid further digression ...

I have an ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard you can have with 256Mb of DDR 400 Ram. Pay the postage and its yours.

Is there a processor in it?

Is there a processor in it?

No, but it supports 939 pin AMD Athlon.

Great supporter of novatech ....no problems for over 10 years of shopping there ..and they remember you and can tell you all about your previous purchaces ...very helpful if you need extra bits ..they know what will fit/work on your PC

Well all the parts came in and went together yesterday, ended up going for a abit ab9 pro board, couldnt recommend it to anyone im afraid, came with a version of bios that couldnt save settings or boot, the latest version was the same but a few months old version worked. That of course took a few hours to figure out. Also turns out after much part swapping one of my antec PSU's was DOA as well :(. Just hope I can get a replacement in time for Christmas. Havent found the time yet to install any games to see what these new graphics cards look like. Will make sure I get to tonight :)

I had 2 Antec PSU. First one doesn't work at all, so I RMA it. Received a replacement after 2 weeks, it was OK for about 1 and half year then it die with a big bang! I will never buy another Antec PSU.

I am now using my spare PSU, which is quiet and nothing went wrong for years.
