Changing the HU on an Octy2

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Just a newbie question here. I was wondering if I could fit the current headunit from my car (Alpine CDE-9850 RI with fast iPod Connection) to the dash of the OctyII? Would I need to get a panel to cover up the space that is left by the OEM headunit?

I know that I could stick with the standard HU and get an iPod connection but after spending the money on the Alpine headunit, I would really like to keep it.

Thanks,

Alex

Yes you can get the facia adapter for the octavia 2, but TBH they dont look that great. Look at the image below and you will see what I mean.

Thanks for the reply. The Sales person that I spoke to didn't think it would of been possible to fit the Alpine HU onto the OctyII. You are right, it doesn't look too good.

You can fit your alpine, you will need the adapter above, and also a wiring adapter as the octy2 doesnt have any ISO connections and uses quad locks instead. However all that changes if you have the audience stereo with the 12 speaker options as you will need to rewire everything as the aftermarket headunit will not be able to turn the external amp on/off so you'll get no sound.

Thanks again! Much appreciated.

There is an OEM fascia adaptor which is much better than the Autoleads one.

You will need a CANBUS Interface/Generator as well which IIRC costs around £80. You can get round it by wiring another live from the fuse box but the gadget is easier.
