Sub Enclosure

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm considering making a sub enclosure to sit in the left had side ot the boot where my multichanger currently sits. Has anyone on here done this yet? The reason for placing it there would be to save usable bootspace and keep it out of the way. My other question is how to remove the cd changer - can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Sub's are not really my thing so can't offer any advice on that part, sorry. Removing the CD changer is easy though. There are 4 torx screws (two on each end of the CD Changer). You need to loosen these and then pull the changer up and out of its bracket. The bracket is removed once the changer unit is out of the way by pulling the carpet trim away and removing the securing nuts.

Thanks Phil, looks like that's coming out tomorrow then.

I built a sub enclosure - pretty easy. The 10" sub came with the instructions for a totally sealed enclosure that had to have a certain volume. Worked out at 13 inches square made out of 3/4 inch MDF. Filled it loosely with the filling of a pillow, stapled on some carpet material. Sounds great.

I've built a sub enclosure in the left hand side of the boot and fitted my amp,cd changer and sat nav in the other side and its pretty easy to be honest, don't have the measurement anymore but just give it a go:thumbup:

Nice install Dsmithmobile! That's exactly the kind of finish I Want in mine. Just a few questions if you don't mind:

Did you use an mdf box or fibreglass for the rear part of the sub enclosure?

How did you attach the box to the car?

Does it sound good?

Cheers, NBR_UK

Its all made of mdf and the sub box is mounted in place using L brackets into the floor and screwed into the side shelf supports at the top,as for the sound all I can say is that I like it,its not overly loud but that's down to power rather than the box
