i've noticed recently, when driving the battery warning light will flicker on and off, it usually does it when i change gear, and then goes out, is it safe to drive and what could the problem be?

Alternator on its way out i'd say,

when you change gear the revs go down and the battery isn't charging

Might be worth checking the altenator belt tension, but generally when the belts slack you get a lot more squealing rather than the light coming on.

whilst i agree with the alternator suggestion (had that too!) this was also a symptom when i had a gunked up throttle body. does your engine rev low?

i drove mine in with a yucky throttle body for nearly a year (the tricks you learn to stop it stalling!). it wasn't dangerous in itself, but some of things you might do to stop it behaving like that could be. if it is the throttle body, i'd recommend the garage. the car is such a joy once it's fixed and it's not too expensive (about
