Fab Vrs vs BMW 335i - hmmm

Featured Replies

Was making brisk progress into work this am (no hols for me unfortunately:mad: ).

Doing 120km/h in the fast lane when I spotted a smallish car coming up fast pretty far back. Thought I'd have some fun and floored it in 5th gear. This usually has the result of making the car much smaller in the mirror. Didn't.

Kept it floored until I hit 200km/h then I realised how totally stupid I was being. He kept his distance far back not changing his size in the rear-view mirror all the way up to that point.

I slowed down and gave way.

Bright red brand spanking new 3-series BMW went past, he was obviously flooring it all the way - the rear badge said 335i.

He probably paid at least 5-6 x for it compared to what I paid for my car.

I'm well-pleased with mine.

Wonder if I spoilt the pride of new-car ownership thing for him:rofl:

The new 335i coupe is a 300bhp twin turbocharged car and flies upto 250km/h limited speed.

He wasn't trying at all.

I know how you feel though :)

Hmmm thanks for the info Mil- once I get my Transmission uprated, I'll have to take a serious look at this then: ATMR Racing Team

Phase 4 should give me the same torque as a Porsche Carrera and should put a serious hurting on any other 335i !

You know something...I don't think I've ever seen a pic of your car....you got any up?

No Buddy - I'll have to take some - car's really dirty at the moment. Apart from the Milotec front and rear badges, painted chrome grille and Honda S2000 ariel - looks pretty stock.

Wonder if I spoilt the pride of new-car ownership thing for him:rofl:

Absolutely definitely not.

Dave.

You probably made his day!

Wonder if I spoilt the pride of new-car ownership thing for him:rofl:

only by covering the front of his car with soot:D ;)

Basil

I'd bet that he didn't even give you a thought.......what a nonsense thread IMO.

As are all the 'didn't like getting beaten/was shocked by a Skoda threads!!!

Lance

the petrol version is a twin turbo 3litre straight six with 306bhp and 302lbft

the diesel version is a twin turbo 3litre straight six with 286bhp and 439lbft

sorry basil but he wasn't scared by your ickle fabia mate, you probably made his day by trying though :)

LOL ive recently traded my fabia VRS for a 330d sport auto 2002 model and i can tell you now the furby feels so much quicker with the way the torque comes in but and its a big but the beemer is so smooth you dont realise how quick your going, its much faster so a 335i must be ridicliously quick i think he was just keeping his distance till you moved over hehe and the handling is awsome:D

Don't worry Bas I understand completely!!

The way I see it (waits to be told how stupid I am) It is not about your Furby being as fast as the Merc/BMW etc, it is about it costing a lot less and still being fast enough to be an irritation. The Fab vRS is the fly on the horse's flanks*. Not big enough to cause any harm, but highly irritating with the ordacitiy to blow clouds of smoke out the back as well as being almost nearly as fast.

*I have been drinking at this point.

The end statement was Emily...

Wonder if I spoilt the pride of new-car ownership thing for him:rofl:

I doubt it

Thank you Emily - you are the only one who appears to have gotten my main point right!

IF I wanted to run properly with super-cars, I would have morgaged the house and bought one.

What I meant is mine costs peanuts compared to a 335i. And I fitted all the mods (except the springs and torching the zorst) with my own two hands.

The dude was cutting across lanes, jumping in between cars, before I under-took  him. Then he seemed to be flooring it from way behind, irritated by my getting ahead.

If I was driving it, I would have expected the feeling of superiority of effortlessly blowing away an average-looking mini type car, not pushing it at all to catch up. He barely made an exit after I gave way to him, still fairly far back...

I found it an interesting experience, that's why I posted up here. That's all.

Of course there's no comparison, but it was (immature, thoughtless, dangerous, etc ect )FUN!

Cheers

but the only irritation caused in the original post was that he didn't move over and held up a faster moving vehicle because he wanted to show quick his car was...i'm obviously "missing the point" or something  i could quite easily hold up a veyron in my focus by not moving out of the way

  • Author

No I didn't hold him up - he was far behind even at 200 clicks. Only at that speed, I pulled over.

And I've driven far faster vehicles years ago, I was only driving for fun, not "wanting to show how quick my vehicle is". Come on, it's only a fabia vRS, not a real "sportscar".

If we're going to make sour comments/snide remarks, forget this thread completely. Briskoda is about friends chatting, not twisting things round to take a swipe at anyone...

But Basil, when you put this thread up, you should have been expecting this. I mean, seriously....threads like this are a weakness to many Briskodians on here to unleash sarcastic remarks like Sir Lancelot.

I've gotten used to it myself :D In fact, sometimes its nice to put up threads like this JUST to give the others a little itch in the a$$ :D

My 2.0 is a Veyron slayer. I warn you...if a quad-turbo supercar can't take me, what makes you think a comparatively puny twin-turbo can?

Pfff.

Thank you Emily - you are the only one who appears to

Totally.

I was following a Porsche Boxter the other day he could have easily lost me on a race track enviroment, and I am not pretending otherwise, but within the restirictions of other traffic and the M5 he could not lose me.

He was wanting to blast along the outside lane wearing Prada Sunglasses being king of the road... but ickle derv Furby was staying well put.

Same thing happens a lot. Too me the Fabia vRS is the two fingers up at the merchant bankers car, without be too valgar.

I love it

My Fabia is better than yours. So is my spaghetti.

I don't have a Fabia?

so your saying w*nkers drive BMW's and if you had plenty of money kicking about you'd still drive a fabia diesel instead of a 3.0 twin turbo bmw simply to "stick it to the man"?

i know which i'd rather drive, i only drive a skoda because at the time i couldn't afford the car i wanted, a B4 S4.

I'd agree, unless you drive a Fabia VRS - then you become a target for a small minority who, for some strange reason, have a problem with the Fabia VRS and love to stick the boot in at any opportunity.....

This is a point I've often asked myself, if I won the lottery would I really blow it on a faster car or better badge in the knowledge that it would depreciate more in lost VAT than the cost of a Skoda, and definately be less useable? Answer - probably:D

Would I be ****ed off when said Skoda could stay all over me unless I was driving like a complete ******? Answer - Definately:rofl:

So do you get ****ed off when an "inferior" modded Corsa can stay all over you? I know I couldn't care less :rofl::rofl:
