mk1 Octy ticking

Featured Replies

I know this has been covered previously but my searches havnt found the required threads! I have a ticking sound coming from the dashboard area on my mk 1 Octy vRS, believe that its something to do with the air-con? I t definately isnt the charcoal filter.

Hmmm... From the dashboard? That rules out your carbon filter then..

is it when the car is idling? you can hear it towards the centre? if so then it IS the filter above or at least the unit that regulates it... i worried about a ticking that sped up and slowed down without any real pattern when i first got mine but it is normal.

Obviously if your ticking is different to this then i have no idea and a call to a local dealer will be best advised.

HTH

I get it sometimes when I turn the engine off but leave the ignition on (waiting outside a shop for example). It's a very obvious ticking noise (sounds like there is an acme bomb behind my radio :) I turned various things off (a/c, radio etc) and the noise didn't go. Have not noticed it with the engine running but it may be there. I'm not worried about it really..... It doesn't sound too worrying to me :P

the fuel pump ticks

My 01 octy has a ticking at random times from the dash, sometimes for a good while, this comes from behind the hazard switch which is the indicator relay, tried a new one but it was still the same - i think it is caused by the stalk contacts, it ticks but doesnt show the indicators - just annoying.

Mine ticks from behind the dash when I'm driving "briskly".

Mine ticks when just starting the car, sounds like its coming from the glovebox area.
